The financial-services industry enriches a lot of its employees, and then pays these people peanuts to lean on deadbeats. If they've got you on the line, don't blame them for applying some pressure and unload a verbal assault on them. Blame the last zero-percent financing offer you bought hook, line and sinker.

People get laid off and can't pay their bills and then get harrased by a bunch of unprofessional thugs who work on commisssion in huge cube farms. Most of which that do no back ground checks. You think they should be high paid professionals? I consider Deadbeat name calling so I will ask to delete your post! Shortly!

I don't get paid "peanuts" and I certainly don't think that the people on this site, nor the people that I talk with on a daily basis are deadbeats. I do believe that they have defaulted on a contractual agreement for any number of reasons, and that it's my job to set up some sort of arrangement that is both satisfactory to them and to my client. A person in debt is simply that: a person. The fact that someone owes a debt does not give me or any other collector the right to talk to them like dirt.

Thank you for your reply oparsenal you are one the good, decent collectors..and we appreciate it,...not all of us are dead beats, I truly do not believe anyone purposely defaults on their financial obligations. Life is not always rosy for people and there are people out there with health problems and such and if they could they would pay their bills so they wouldn't have to indure rude and thoughtless phone calls from a@@holes that get a cheap thrill out of other's unfortunate circumstances.

Thank you oparsenal! Very nicely put!

And to the original poster, who is probably "No Nonsense Collector" in disguise, please define "applying some pressure." I hardly think calling someone and threatening to have them arrested, calling their employer advising the same, hounding friends families and neighbors repetitive times in a single day unendingly, verbally abusing them, . . . Oh, I could go on, but I'm sure you get the point.

That is not what you call "applying some pressure." It is called "illegal collection activities" and prohibited by law under the fdcpa. So until all CA's follow this law, as oparsenal, FYI, and others on this site seem to do, please don't had me any of your garbage about "applying some pressure."

Because that dog don't hunt, as far as I'm concerned.

Oparsonal, I realize that there are collectors out there that are professional and play by the rules. They are unfortunately not the norm. I have had a collector terrorize my wife by saying "pay up or I will sue your ass in a Florida court!" The call center noise chattering away in the background.
Collection is a necessary entity and should be a respectful one. Unfortunately it is a way for anyone to make easy money by junk debt buying and hiring the unemployable to work on commision. Nothing personal!

Number A.) If you are Floridian, then it's good to see another one of us here.

Number B.) I do not work on commission. Probably why I have a heart. :P I am an hourly/bonus employee.

Just an FYI. :D
