Are you looking for debt consolidation or debt settlement. Either way you go, please make sure you research the company you are planning on going with.

I went with a debt settlement company and was taken for more money than I want to admit. Just make sure they are able to do what they say they are going to do.

I agree with spatterson.....do your homework properly prior to signing any deal with a debt settlement company.Do not forget to check their reliability report with BBB. With so many scams going around I think it is better to do a proper research. After all it is our hard earned money and we do not want some phony company to run away with it.

You can also take help of the free counseling offered by the site.

Thanks, I already checked out one that is Legit. BBB gave them a Satisfactory rating. I am going to have to rid myself of the PDLs first. Got some great advice yesterday on this web site and will get started on that today. then work on the credit card debt. Will shop around though and see whats out there.

I was actually searching for information on a company called Debtmerica.... I spoke with a councelor there and it seemed to good to be true. So I decided to research the company. They attatched a link on an email i recieved from them with the link to the BBB site showing they were Satisfactory... great... but the link attached was for a company called Freedom debt relief.... so I went to the BBB home page and put in Debtmerica and it came up grade F... it seems the company changed its name or something ... maybe to get around the bad grade. I am not sure because I am still doing research on it and if I should go this route or not. That is how I got to this site. so to help you out.... just make sure the company you are researching doesn't go by more than one name. It is so scary. I don't know what company to use if I use debt settlement. Anyone out there no of a reputable one.... probly not or they wouldn't be on this site???? good luck to you!

If you are going with debt settlement, I think this site will help you a great deal. If you can do it yourself, you will find a wealth of information here to help you and great people to answer your questions.

If you can't go it by yourself, I would start by searching this site for debt settlement companies. Many people have posted their experiences. The search is at the top of the page. And like you have said, please make sure you are working with a legit company.

You could also sign up as a member of this site. That way you could take advantage of the free consult they offer. You would get a call from someone and they will give you some options for your particular situation. And it is FREE so you can't really lose.

I have sign up with this site though sometimes i forget to sign in and have figured out how to get just one picture on the icon. After asking questions and getting the excellent advice from this site I am going to try and do it myself. I had contact with a company called Coastal Credit or something like that. Said that i could be done within 12 months and asked if i could pay $350.00 a month. (old CC bills)I did ask about the Pay Day Loans and was told they can't do them cause the PDLS WON'T work with them. I am going to put the CC issue aside until i get the PDL situation under control. I am worried though that I am going to get the nasty gram from the attorneys though. Unfortunately can't pay any debt settlement company til i get the PDL issue in control.

Look up Freestar Financial on the BBB. A+ rating. I used them for debt settlement. Good luck!

Anyhow with that being said, most settlement companies will not take on pdls, but you can settle these debts on your own if you are agressive enough to do so. be sure while searching for settlement companies you really really do your homework there are alot of scammers out there taking advantage of people during thier hard times right now. Its hard to imagine how they sleep at night
