PDL Nightmare want to get out and need a checklist for dummies on the steps I need to take to rid myself of PDL's. I work two full time jobs just to try to keep up and am drowning. I live in Michigan and I have all internet loans.
SDS Processing 250 paid 150
MTE Financial 300 paid 90
SJM Marketing 300 paid 180
24/7 advances 200 paid 90
Cash transfer centers 600 paid 2200
loan shop 300 pd 180
What do I do first, I can't access the website to see who is legal and I bank at Lasalle which became part of Bank of America. I will gladly provide more information

Thanks so much for somebody to finally listen and not tell me what can't be done. I really need to know what can be done. Please bear with me because I don't even know how to reply or keep on the same thread.

Thanks for providing all the info. You are at the right place. You are going to have to either close or freeze your account and default on these loans if you ever want your control back. Check wtih your bank to be sure they do not have a policy of forcing open your account for ACH withdrawals. Cash Transfer Centers is an illegal operation and they will contact you immediately and then try to envoke the wage assignement that you agreed to. You must send them a letter revoking that immediately after closing you account. Contact your payroll and show them a copy of the letter.
As far as I can tell none of those companies will be licensed in your state. That means little to them but it is to your advantage. You do however have a moral obligation to repay what you borrowed under your states guidelines.

I don't have a problem paying back what I received from them and doing it in a timely manner. It is just to pay $180 a month on each loan and not touch the principle is to me knowing that I will exist in this state of being forever.

We have all be there...that is how we ended up here on this site. You do need to follow Frogs instructions and do the wage assignment letter and close or freeze your account. If you can, try to open a new account at a different bank. Also, you may want to read this link about closing your account. There is some good information on there.

I plan on closing my account on Tuesday 2-19 and I have stopped using my atm and haven't written any checks and taking my new direct deposit information to my payroll and opening my new account tomorrow. My question would be is from 2-19 to 2-29 enough time to stop all of the bank fees?

I am going to let the PDL's go through on
the 15th as normal and shut everything down the next business day 2-19 so that they can't go in on the 29th.
Is that the right thing to do?

If there is nothing you can do to stop them tomorrow....I was faced with the same situation.

Heres what I did...I get paid on 15th and 30th. I too was too close to payday to redirect my DD until the next check.

I logged onto my account early AM..checked my balance. Didnt see that the PDL's were pending yet, called the bank and closed the account that minute! Went down to the branch, signed the papers when they opened and had them transfer all of the cash over to the new account.

That was so smart! The only reason I hadn't considered that is because of all of the nightmare stories I read on the site about them reopening your closed account and never being able to close it completely. Tomorrow won't leave me a negative balance, but it will take all of my money, but my original plan was to go down and talk to the branch manager Tuesday. I am even scared to get another account at the same bank even though my job and my bank has a partnership. The problem is that I work in a very corporate place and if these PDL's start calling all around my job will be in jeopardy.

Another problem is that the PDL's go through in the early morning hours and my check goes through in the early morning hours so I can never catch them before it gets posted to my account. Also, I have to figure out what tactic I am going to use when they start calling my job incessantly.

Usually deposits are posted before debits....check it out in the AM. Log on to your account. I know for mine, sometimes I wouldnt see the PDL debit until the next day.

You will need to send them a letter telling them to;
stop calling
revoking their ACH rights
revoking any voluntary wage assignment clauses in the contract

I can post a copy of a letter and you can draft it to your needs.

I was sort-of in the same situation; I get paid by direct deposit every 2 weeks and was told if I'd close my account there was no guarantee my next direct deposit could be changed to the new account, as it can take several days to change over. So, I opened a new bank account and put my old bank account on "deposit only." (per advice on this site, be sure to check w/ your bank if you'll be charged any return fees if the payday ACH's don't go through)

If you can send me the forms it would be awesome. You have been a tremendous help. I will keep posting until I have a rags to riches story. I am looking forward to having a WHOLE check and not working two jobs to make up for PDL expenditures.

You are definately on your way with all of the great advice you've gotten here--all I would add to it is to be sure that you get that Wage Assignment revokation letter to your payroll dept ASAP--because I promise you that Cash Transfer Centers will be on the phone with them trying to use it ASAP. Do it the next day that Payroll is open, OK?

I am a Nurse and believe me, I was so surprised when I spoke to my HR and she told me that I was not the only one who had this problem. She responded with how she would deal with the calls. I also need to call my nurse manager and explain what happened.
Find someone in your co. and have a heart to heart. People are more understanding than you think (or at least as far as I thought they would be)

You're right, egypt. People think they are all alone and the only ones with this problem. No. It's more common than we all know. It's unreal how many thousands of people get caught in this mess. You're doing fine, egypt. Try to stick to your thread. That way everyone can see what state you reside in, your pdls, and which ones are legal and which ones are not legal. However, feel free to post any comments or questions on other threads that pertain to you! Just put your "most important" stuff on your thread. It's just easier to go back and scroll through and see what's going on. But, ask questions anywhere you see something that don't understand! We'll help you! :D

It's funny. Speaking of a poster being a nurse, I work for a HUGE hospital chain (but am not a nurse) and when I was dealing with Sonic and their threats to garnish, I called my payroll, which is located in a different city and spoke with the Garnishment Supervisor there (kinda like our Finsfan :D ) who told me that she got so many wage assignment letters from Sonic she just sent them all back--and they got so discouraged they just stopped sending them! So it really opened my eyes to the enormity of this problem.

ks, no lie? And we all thought we were "alone" in this mess. Amazing. Just amazing. I'm glad you posted that. I also see a lot of people posting that when they tell their bank what's going on, their bank is like "Yes, we've done this before." It's actually really, really sad.

Hello Lovely, if you would, perhaps you could start your own thread, that way we won't get confused and will be able to help you. Just post the name of the PDL companies, whether they are Internet or Store Front loans, how much you borrowed and paid back, and the state you reside in. I am sure if you provide us with this info someone will be able to help you. :)

djones, I'm not finding any of these pdls on the Michigan licensee database. Unless they might be using a different name. But I'm leaning towards saying they are not licensed in Michigan because their licensee database is so small. I went through the whole thing. I can tell you that MTE will not be licensed anywhere in the US and also Cash Transfer Centers is overseas (illegal). Have you done a revoke wage assignment letter to Cash Transfer Centers yet?

I did the standard letter and am going through each pdl and trying to put as much information as possible since I don't have their addresses. I am just trying to be clear. Each pdl gets one letter and my payroll gets six letters since I have six pdl's. I am so confused.

I still need

2. SJM Marketing
3. The Loan Shop
4. 24/7 Advances
They are not coming up in the search engine. Just my previous post when it came to SJM and SDS.

djones, whatever letters you type to the pdls, just make a copy for your records. You can give a copy of every one of them to your payroll person just to be on the safe side. But, yes, it's just one letter to the pdl (unless you really want to cover your bases and do a separate one for revoking wage assignment) and then just make copies of them. It'll be okay. Don't be confused. We can help you. As far as addresses, I can try to find some for you if you can't find anything by searching. What does SDS stand for? SJM is going to be a pain because they go by a different name.

Okay. So SDS has nothing as far as a name or phone number? Is there anything associated with the deposit or debits from your account by them? Maybe some kind of telephone number?

24/7 has a telephone number listed next to their transaction? What's the phone number. I can do a search on it.

SDS 1-866-910-4521
24/7 Advance - 1-877-224-7375. That is all that I Have on either one. I am doing the letters today but not sending them to pdl's until after I successfully close my account. the next wave of ach's are due to come out on 2-29-08.

Did a search on the phone numbers. Interesting. A search on SDS brought me back to this site showing:

ASAP Phone 1-866-910-4521
Fax 1-866-910-5768

So they could be using a different name (not unusual). I'm getting NOTHING on the 24/7 one. Huh. Maybe they hide real well.
