OK… I know you are probably tired of hearing about Rio Resources… but here is one more. I received a call today from and “attorney” named Christopher Ranieri… well someone in his office who accused me of being rude and eventually hung up on me when I asked her for the original debtor information.

She was trying to collect a 95.00 alleged debt from Ten Dollar Pay Day loan. She apparently did not know of Rio resources, or MTE (the actual original loan originator). She also did not apparently know about the whole host of Rio history, Oklahoma’s cease and desist order, the VW attorney Generals law suit or my individual history of having paid 485.00 back on an original 200.00 loan, far exceeding my (SC) state maximum, which should have been 230.00, and my having filed a complaint with the SC Attorney General’s Office..

Anyway, this has been through 3 other collection agencies and has now ended up with Ranieri (who if you do a Google search on the most complimentary thing you will find is “Rent-a-Lawyer).

How do I get these people to JUST STOP and go away?

When the SOL runs out hopefully. They just pass it back and forth hoping for an easy pay! When they see a legal barrier they sell it off. There should be a limit to how often a debt can change hands but I do not think there is. I have been going through it with Rio too. I don't even know who is collecting what any more. I get tired of sending DV letters and spending that 5 bucks on certified mail. Hell, thats a six pack for the Daytona 500. Almost anyway!
