I am writing today from a hospital in Rockford,Il. My son was the teaching assistant that was critically injured in Thursday's shooting at NIU. He has just been upgraded to serious.

I thank God every minute that he survived this horrible experience. Recovery should be complete albeit slow.

I ask for your thoughts and prayers not only for my son but all the students and parents involved as my heart goes out to them all.

Thank you
(Sharon)

Morning, Your son sounds like and amazing young man. I am so very sorry you all have to go through this. I placed your family on the prayer list at church. Know that you and your family are in the thoughts and prayers of many. I share the same sentiment as the others that have posted before me, If you need anything at all, I am here. God Bless. Suzi

He is much much better...and thank you for all the thoughts and prayers. He was released yesterday after 5 days and is spending the rest of the week resting before returning to campus Monday. He did a brief interview on Monday with a local paper. He will have to go back to see the doctors a few more times but God willing there should be no long term physical affects. He is planning on talking with a cousilor when he returns to school. I still get very choked up and my heart goes out to the parents whose children did not make it through. Very sad.

A few more prayers please: My son and his girlfriend were planning on driving back to campus this weekend. He has had a couple of migraines and started having numbness again and speech difficulty. They are at the hospital now waiting to have another cat scan. I pray there is nothing wrong...just that he is trying to do too much too soon .....

I didn't read this thread simply because I didn't want any horrific reminders of this tragic event. Now I'm sorry I didn't and that I'm only now responding to MorningStarr430.

I am so glad your son is OK and making progress towards recovery. I'm also glad you were able to be there for him and be strong for him. I wish him, and you, only the best and a full recovery from this tragic event.

Makes me think of a quote, I honestly don't know where it's from or even exactly how it goes. I do think it might be from the Bible. someone correct me if I get the quote or the source reference incorrectly.

"I cried that I had no shoes, until I met a man that had no feet."

Makes me realize that sometimes me and my own problems are insignificant to that of what other people may be going through. Then I consider myself a very fortunate man indeed.
