I would not pay anything until the debt is properly validated.

That's my question...I don't think the attorney validated proper
That's my question...I don't think the attorney validated properly because they don't tell me that they own the debt, just that they are collecting on behalf of their client. I know this is my responsibility to pay so should I pay the original PDL company?

Sorry. I agree with kash. I wouldn't pay ANYONE until I had validation of who "owns" the debt. I had one pdl that I paid/overpaid/was refunded then apparently a collection agency 'bought' it (or whatever) and they wanted the money. HELLO! I received a friggin refund from the original pdl! And these guys wanted tons of money! So, there's no telling what's going on. Until I was 100% positive of who the heck "owns" this debt, they would get zero. You want proof in case these bozos come back months/years later saying you owe them money.

i had a call, like that. A woman, claiming to be calling, from a Richard Burgess (?) said I had an outstanding PDL, and they were trying to collect on it. I asked to talk to the Lawyer, himself. Was told I could not. She tried to 'verify' information for me..ain't gonna tell her anything. Also.when the 'office' called, they called with a 'Private Number'. I asked for a number to conatct her at. Never got one of those, either. If this 'office' calls back, how do I deal with them?
In any case, once you pay off the PDL, I would go for a Paid in
In any case, once you pay off the PDL, I would go for a Paid in Full letter, which shows that the debt is settled. This way, if they do come back saying you owe them money, you have the letter showing you don't.

If the "people" call you again, tell them to send you something IN WRITING. You want documentation. That'll either get them to give you information or you might get lucky and scare them off. Don't give them any information. Tell them you need THEIR mailing address and THEIR telephone number to send them a debt validation letter.

I have a person named Meghan Lindy from Freedmon and Johnson leaving me voice messages at my work, threatening litigation, stating that I was a criminal and now she has a man calling my work leaving messages on the General voice mail that I will receive a summons if I do not contact Meghan and pay off this debt. Meghan has not stated what the debt was for or who the original creditor was that I owed. I tried contacting her this morning, I left her voice mail to please either e-mail me or mail me a letter of validation/verification of this so called debt that I owe. I have not heard back from her either by e-mail or phone yet today. I also typed up a letter requesting validation and specifically stated that I wanted the name and address of the orig creditor, the amount supposedly owed, and also who owns the debt. I faxed the letter to this Meghan Landry person @ the offices of Freedmon and Johnson as well as mailed a certified letter to them at the home office as well. What should I do know. They are threatening a summons to court. If I owe something I will do my best to make payment arrangement and pay the debt, but I will only mail certified checks, I will not give out my personal information like my bank account etc to anyone over the phone. BUT FIRST...I want validation the whatever debt this is they are saying I owe, that I actually owe. Can some one give me some good advise of what else to do if I do not get validation like I am requesting? Thanks HOPELESS

here is what you do.use the address you used to send the DV letter to file
AG,and FTC complaints as this "supposed law firm"broke the law themselves in their calls.then file a police report for the calls as well.calling you a criminal makes her no less a criminal herself.do that and then ignore them.it's not worth it to stress over toothless threats.
I agree with all of the above; until you can get something solid
I agree with all of the above; until you can get something solid, I wouldn't pay a dime to anyone. Keep all correspondence (incl. e-mails) you receive from anyone regarding this debt, make copies of all outgoing correspondence and emails, and you might want to keep a log of calls you receive and your response. Also, in addition to contacting the AG and FTC, I'd also contact your States' financial regulatory agency.

NO you should contact them by phone and ask for them to send you the information on the account. also do some research and make sure they are real firm by calling the their local county clerk office, and secretary of state office or easy was go to 411.com and do a reverse phone and address lookup. hope this helps do not pay them untill they do what their required by law, considering that their a firm they should know that.
