My husband recently lost his job and we had taken out a few payday loans to make ends meet but now we are in over our heads...(in hind sight we know that was a bad idea!) we have talked about some kind of debt consolidation program or something, but will that help with the payday loans or just the credit cards? Also, what is the best program to start with and are there any we should avoid?

moswald, welcome! :D What payday loans do you have? Are they storefront or internet? Also what state to you reside in? You also have credit card debt? Please post a little additional information and we can help you!

We live in Texas and all of the payday loans are store fronts (which I beleive makes them legal). I don't have all of the details as I am at work right now and the paperwork is all at home.

Advance America - $784
First Cash Advance - $661
EZ Money - $846

We also have about $5000 in CC debt between the two of us that includes 2 regular CCs, jewelry store, retail store and gas co.

I'm not trying to get out of paying what I owe and I'm not trying to dis-honor my obligations... I'm just upside down.

I did check with the links for the state laws for payday loans, but I'm not 100% sure I fully understand what it all means.
