If a rep for the credit card comp. issues a summons through your local court , is it too late to tryto settle? I did'nt have the money until very recently to try to negotiate a settlement.

I was served a summons for a credit card debt. I contacted the the company and they were willing to settle the debt at 50% but unfortunately I did not have the funds at the time. So, they were very fair with me in setting up a payment plan. The interest is alittle high (but better than I had when I had the card). This for me was better than going to court and getting a judgement against me. I did not want my wages garnished.

My advice is to contact the company and see what they are willing to do for you. It is costly for them to go to court and most companies like to settle before it gets to that point. Let us know how you make out.
