PDL Nightmare but Fighting them all

I just wanted to update, but before I do
I really want to express how awesome you
all are!!! The service that you do is
invaluable! People come to you all broken
and you help put us back together. It is
amazing!!
I have officially closed my bank account
and opened a new one. I have taken a
wage revocation to my Payroll and HR. I
have sent all my letters out via certified
mail except two which will contact me since
they are hiding and I am ready to fight.
The phone calls haven't started yet, but I
will not talk on the phone and I can get
through this.
My problem now I need a "Rain Man" walk
through the rest of this process. How
does the BBB and Michigan AG come into
this?

Go to (www)BBB.org and it will walk you through filing a complaint against the specific company(s). Also, you can Google the website to your Attorney General's Office and file an online complaint there as well. File away and good luck!!

Yep - Follow soxfan's advice - Just be honest and explain the situation in your complaints. You dont' have to go into why you took out the loan or any of that, just what you borrowed, what you've paid, the licensing status of the company, and what you want the outcome to be.

I will get it together over the weekend and keep you posted. I haven't paid any of my internets off. Do I have to start right away?

Depends on what you have paid already. If the PDL company is operating illegally and you have already paid back the principal amount you borrowed, don't pay anything else and start filing with the BBB. You will need to find out who is legal and who isn't. If you post the names of PDL places, how much you borrowed and how much you paid back. The great people here can help you further with that info.

Okay. So you are doing great so far! Congratulations on taking the first steps! I can tell you now that you're dealing with illegal companies (SURPRISE! :D )
You still owe them towards the principle amount. Here's the deal. You've sent them the letters, you've taken care of the wage assignment with your HR, you've prevented them from debiting you any further. Great! Now, as far as paying them, they can give you a mailing address to mail money orders to. Do not give them new bank account information, do not send them a check. You can send money orders or use a pre-paid debit card. I personally insist on a mailing address for money orders. Just me though. You pay them back what you can, when you can. You can make arrangements with them (via email or USPS - don't take their phone calls). If they are acceptable to you, go ahead and mail the payments in as agreed upon. They're going to stomp and scream no matter what, so take it easy. Just see if you can get a mailing address and send money orders. Where the bbb, the ftc, and your state ag come into play is when you file complaints against these companies, they will contact them on your behalf. The bbb will try to settle it. If you can't settle it with them, they will close the case. Whatever. Sometimes you can get it resolved just through the bbb and other times they will close it if you can't come to an agreement. That's okay. You're going to file with the ftc also. They need to know about these illegal companies. You can go to (www)ftc.gov. You can file your complaints on line. Then file with your state AG. You can google your state AG and the site should come up. Some states can file on line, others you have to download the forms, fill them out, and mail them in. The AG will begin sending letters on your behalf to these companies. It works in your favor. If you have any questions, just post! :D
