Can anyone help me here. I paid James Lombardo $500 fee to get started on my debt settlement and he cashed the check but since then Ive sent 3 emails to check the status and he hasn't responded to one. Is this normal or am I getting screwed here?? Shouldn't he at least keep his customers informed??

Hi BFR!
You can do a search in the above right hand box and you will come across many who have dealt with James Lombardo. It often happens that things unfortunately go wrong for some people while for others its fine. I sincerely hope that you come out of whatever problems you are having.

He holds a $500 retainer until your last settlement and then he uses that. He works on a savings bases - otherwise, if he saves you $10000.00 he will charge you 15% to 20% of that amount, depending on your contract agreement. So technically, he does not charge unless he settles your debt for you. However, he cannot prevent you from getting sued and if you do he cannot represent you.

Yea, but my concern is why wont he respond to my all of my emails? If he isnt going to help me then why not just tell me. Why would he cash the check and then leave me in the dark. Is this normal or should I be worried??

I did business with him for awhile and his customer service was sorely lacking. I would be careful if I were you.

I am having the same issue right now. I have been trying to get a hold of him for a little over a week now and he is not responding to my emails. He is normally pretty good about it and we emailed each other at the end of Feb. I have a good chunk of $ to start settleing with now and since he hasn't responded I am starting to get very nervous. I am hoping everything is ok.

I've been reading this forum after contacting James Lombardo and now I'm curious. Have those post from early this month be able to get hold of him and what was the outcome.

I was considering him for debt settlement so I would be interested in seeing if the people that posted earlier were able to get ahold of him. From what I have read about him the major complaint is that he can be very hard to get ahold of at times. Aside from that he seems to get results when it comes to settlements. But as others have mentioned having peace of mind when going thru debt settlement is a very important part of it as I am sure it can be quite stressful. Are there any registered users on this forum that have experience with him. Please PM me with any details. No disrepect to people that post as guests but there is a tendency for you to come and go and from what I have seen in other threads there sometimes can be a credibility issue. Currently I am looking at debt settlement companies, but unfortunately the reviews and research I have done has been conflicting in some cases. While the BBB is a good soucre it can be kind of misleading in some cases because alot of debt settlement companies get tagged with an F or unsatisfactory rating just for the simple fact that they are a debt settlement company. My next step will probably be to contact state attorney generals for the few companies that I am considering. If any of the registered regulars out there has had any positive experiences with debt settlement companies could you please PM the details. This probably wasn't the greatest first post, but I look forward to be coming an active member in the forum. Thank you

I want to make corrections on the message that I posted this morning. James call me this afternoon and told me it was settlement fees. Only little problem was that his office forgot to forward me any emails or faxes he was working on. Lack of communication forced me in to a pannic mode. He told me that he settled 50% on advanta account and BOA 20% and chase 35% of balance today. I just recieved copy of settlement letter from advanta. I am sorry for posting false alert message. But his office need to better job on communications on account status and what & why they are doing with my accounts and money.

Scott

We work with James. I have had nothing but good experiences with him. I do know he has had email trouble recently. Please try him again before giving up. He is awesome.

The other thing I need to say is that you can't go by the bad experiences of some folks. What they don't tell is the mess that they may have brought to him. I would be curious to see if the people who have had bad experiences with James brought him lawsuits and such.

I highly recommend him! He has saved us from certain bankruptcy.

Tania I am so sorry to hear about your $500. :(

I did a lot of research on sifxpert and decided that he would be the one I would use if I were to use anyone. I liked the results I read about...HOWEVER my first email to him to inquire about his program went unanswered and after emailing him again-I got a response asking how to contact me. I emailed back my info and never heard from him again. When I seen it was going that route from the begining I decided not to use him.

I did not need anyone to baby me through the debt settlement process but I needed someone to be there for my calls and concerns. This is a big deal and some of these stories I hear baffle me. I couldn't imagine going through this process with someone who is slow to return calls and emails and you are paying him. Again, I do read awesome results but I am not sure I would want to go through the hassle of email/phone tag. That would just be added stress on the situation.

Be careful with this guy and others like him. I went to him for assistance, paid my $500. retainer and due to his untimely correspondence, I was sued and a garnishment issued against me. I have filed bankruptcy, which I probably should have done to begin with and saved myself alot of stress from non-communication and court dates. I am of the opinion that settlement companies do not work (I worked with 3 of them) unless you have alot of available cash to work with. The savings/lay low for months plan simply does not work!

Lets be clear, you had 2 accounts in garnishment and 1 account in litigation when you enrolled. I clearly stated to you that you were a hopeless case but there was a chance to turn things around. Regardless of showing up in court or not, you would have lost the case either way however; you would have settled only days thereafter the judgment was awarded and no other action would have been taken.

I dont know why you continue attempting to smear my name on this board. I have a record of 167 emails in 4 months that were responded to. This is the reason I require a retainer. For you to say that nothing was done and you were ripped off is simply not the case. A lot of time and energy was invested in your accounts. The only problem in moving forward with your accounts was you contacting the attorney. That is why you ended up filing bankruptcy.

I also question why you have not mentioned once the other company who actually caused you 2 garnishments and the 3rd account to sue also. I was handed a complete to fix. I am not responsible for your demise. I really do not understand why you continue to post how I am responsible for your litigation matters when you enrolled with 3 pre-existing litigation accounts.

I find it odd that you were taken for 4k from Precept and not a word mentioned about them.

Paulmergel - you are so correct - this is our board to report experiences, good and bad for others to use to make better choices and those comments from "owner" were very unprofessional! Thanks for your input!
My comments were not as much an attempt to smear a name as they were a sharing of my experience and more than that a warning against settlement companies and how they did not serve me and others well. For anyone interested, "owner" states that "you were taken for 4K from Precept" when he stated on this board under the subject "Watch Out" on 1/30/07 that he had gotten me a refund from them for the 4K. I never received it so I wonder where it went to if indeed a refund was issued?????
I blame no one for the demise of my financial situation but myself and my naievity to buy into more than one settlement companies slick sales pitch and pie in the sky promises!

Kashzan,

I think you are biased as far as Mr Lombardo is concerned. I was not always positive about Sifxpert. If you read my earlier thread " James Lombardo Elite Negotiations, Sifxpert Fraud Alert" I was not happy at all with James. What really changed me was his work on my case. Result speeks lauder than anything else. And that result he deliverd at end of March 2008, really gave new hope in my life, finacially, emotionally. You don't know what it feels like unless you go through finacial hell that I was in. When unthinkable seems like acceptable alternative to protect your first priority ie family, man who changes and truns your life around to give a second chance is next to God in my opinion. I owe him deeply because credit counselors and debt settlment copanies told me that my problem could not be helped. I was skeptical of James ultil he produced result on my business accounts. I search for any similar cases on this website and Google, I couldn't find anyone had experienced with business credit cards and Amex. I posting this to let the members know case like mine can be done. James was only guy who said it was possible to settle all my business and Amex accounts. He delivered what he said. I want the members of this website to get fare presentation on James and also talk to as many debt settlement co's as possible before hiring any including James.
