Hi, I live in Ohio. I have recently closed my checking due to getting in over my head with pay day loans. I plan to pay these off once I receive my tax return, but they are calling my sister I listed as a contact and routinely calling my work...as in four to five times a day. Any suggestions to get these guys off my back until I get my tax return? I also was threatened my zip19 to have my wages garnished and to call my supervisor?? I have the following outstanding.

ZIP19 - Owe $690
Magnum Cash Advance - Owe $900
Loan Shop - Owe $520 - have paid over 400 in fees
CashNet USA - Owe $890
Little Loan Shop - Owe $520 - have paid $300 in fees

Heather, Welcome, I see you live in ohio. Internet pdls must be licensed in Ohio to lend in Ohio. Here, You will find the Payday loan laws for Ohio (just select your state),
http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/explain-pdls-laws.html

I know a couple of them will not be licensed but I will check the ones I am not sure of.

Cashnet USA is definitely licensed in Ohio. Send them what you can, when you can. They will want to make arrangements to get it all paid off in a month or so but they will take whatever you send them and deduct it from your balance. Let's wait and see what Heather comes up with as far as amounts she paid and we will go from there. :)

Wow, thanks for your help guys! Here is the answer to your questions.

Zip19 - The original loan was for $600 and I have paid them nothing yet, these guys are the ones that are calling my sister at least once a day.
Magnum Cash Advance - The original loan was for $868 and I have paid them about $268, but they are calling me saying I owe them over $1000.
As for the Little Loan and Loan Shop - the original was $500 each and I have paid $120 on each so far.
THanks so much for your help!!!!

Hi, I just received this email from Zip19. I noticed they raised my payback amount to almost 800.00. The "gentleman" I talked to earlier said he would not accept a partial payment until I get my refund. I Also they listed their mailing address as being in Malta?

These are the same as Cash Transfer Centers....which are so illegal..I would respond back that you will not discuss anything over the phone. you want all future communication to be in writing, as per the advice of my legal counsel. You are to get all future correspondence with you in writing.

that you would like a physical address to mail any owed principle in the form of money order.

Again, please respond with your decision in writing.

Hea12ther, you've got great information so far. Not one of your pdls are licensed EXCEPT for your CashNetUSA. They are the ones you will want to contact and make payment arrangements with (preferably with money order to a mailing address). The others are not licensed to lend to you. Zip is highly illegal with them being overseas. They can stick their "demand" up their butt. Do you need a letter to send to your pdls (with the exception of CashNetUSA) to let them know where you stand and not to contact you except via email or USPS? I can post a letter for you to use as an "example". You would have to change it for each pdl, the dollar amounts, the situation, etc. But it does cover revoking debit authorization, revoking wage assignments, not contacting you, etc.... I will post it for you so that you can send it to your illegal pdls, okay? If you have any questions, just post them and we will help you.

Great, I can't thank everyone enough!!! What a blessing this site is. I am in the process of sending out my certified letters that CANNR posted. I also emailed them as well and this is the response I received from Zip.

Thanks everyone! Can I ask advice on one more thing?

When I got home from work last night there was a letter waiting for me from a collection agency for the loan shop. I borrowed 500 from then and have paid back 120 so far, but the collection letter states I owe them $845. Any advice on how to handle? Like I said I plan on paying all of these back when I receive my tax refund, but the $955 seems way overboard. Thanks.

I called Cashnetusa last night to make payment arrangements. I owe $890 and this company is legal in Ohio. When I asked for a pysical address to send the money order to the representative replied that they only take credit cards or checking account payments. I told her I did not have either (there is no way I am giving them my new numbers) and she replied "well call us back when you do" and hung up on me. Anyone have the same experience or can anyone offer advice on how to handle this?

Heather, they will tell you that the arrangements that you want to make are unacceptable but they will take whatever you send them and they WILL accept payments that you mail in. Many people have done this and they accepted them and applied them to their accounts. This collector that you were speaking with was just trying to scare you into giving them your information. CashnetUSA told me themselves they would accept payments if I mailed them in. Hope this helps! I am in Ohio also if you need anything!

Here is what they told me and they gave me an address:

The address you requested is Po Box 06230 Chicago IL 60606

Oh, and here is my last response from them....

Feel free to send what you can afford when you can afford it, as it will be applied to your account. However, it will not be considered an acceptable payment arrangement and collection procedures will continue.

I feel if you are doing all you can and sending them something; then they can't do anything about it...If i get collection letters; then I will then send a debt validation letter as well......

Bigmoe - you reside in Ohio, correct? You have 2 storefronts and 4 internets, correct? We can help you, too. Please list who your pdls are, distinguish which ones are storefront and which ones are internet, how much you borrowed (principle amount only), and how much you have paid total so far to date.

BigMoe,

I highly suggest taking Cannr's advice and let these people who run this board help you.

Lay out all your pdl's, who they are, what you owe and what you have paid.

I have only been on this board a week now and I cant tell you what a relief all of this information and advice has been. I have done everything these people have advised and so far most of the calls have stopped and I am starting to get replies by email from the PDL's with VERY good payment options.

It is time consuming and tedious, but doing everything these kind people advise you to do is really the first step to getting out of this mess and back on track to being a responsible handler of your finances.

Wanted to give everyone a BIG THANKS AGAIN!! Below is my response from Magnum. Originally they were stating I owed $1039 but I sent in the letter CANNR posted and this was the response. THANKS!!! So far I have recieved all great resposes like this from every PDL except Zip19, they are not acknowledging my letters.

I have escalated your account to the Owners of Magnum Cash Advance. They have authorized me to accept your offer to settle your account for $422.00.

Please mail your payment to:
Magnum Cash Advance
C/O Call Center Services
1403 Foulk Road, Suite 203

Collections activity will cease on your account unless payment is not made on or before April 30, 2008. Your account will considered 'paid in full' upon receipt of the $422.00 principal balance.

Hi, everyone

I need help!!!! I just completed an online application to Zip19.com, well I got online with an agent because they wanted my supervisors number and I would not give it. So in the end she told me to log back in and sign off on the paperwork. Somehow I cannot get back in which is great, my computer took me to this site and my question is do I need to worry and close my account before they deposit the money? I didn't sign off on any paperwork.

3366, you didn't sign anything, correct? And when you logged in, you couldn't get in, correct? I'm going to hope to God that the loan wasn't accepted because you did not electronically sign it. However, you can contact them and be sure that the loan was NOT completed. If you have their phone number, call and see if it was completed. Pray to God they say no. If you can not get ahold of them, keep an eye on your bank account. If you see any deposit, have your bank return it immediately. Do not accept it. Reverse it back. If it does happen and you have to do that, I would certainly close that bank account and open another one. You have two options, try to get ahold of them and see if the loan has been accepted, or wait and see if you get a deposit - if so, immediately have it reversed back off. Please keep us posted as to what's going on.

Thanks so much for this website, if I didn't came across it I would have possible signed the loan papers and my a** would be in problems. To secure myself I went and closed out my account. When I came home and checked my email and they sent me one stating that my application is waiting to be signed. I emailed them back informing them that I was not interested in the loan anymore and I just called them and was told that my application was cancelled based on my email. Now do you guy's know anything about Upfront loan?

I closed my account. Came home and found an email from them stating that I need to sign my application. I emailed them and told them thanks but no thanks I wasn't interested anymore. I called them just now to verify that they received my email and they did. I was told my application was cancelled. Thanks so much for this website!

3366, go to the top right hand corner of this screen and you will see a 'search box', type in Upfront Loan. You will see posts pop up regarding them. You can read what others have to say about them. You can also go to the bbb (www.bbb.org) and check out what kind of rating they have. But, go ahead and do a search on them on this site. I'm sure you will find some interesting reading! :D

PS - Great job on getting that pdl taken care of. Better safe than sorry! I'm glad you did this. Now the evil people didn't suck in another person!

messdup, if you're talking about the letter regarding sending the pdl revoking everything, they are illegal, blah, blah, I'll post it for you. You'll just have to change the wording to fit your particular pdl, your state laws, your dollar amounts, and the status of the pdl (pif, overpaid, still owe principle amount). If you have any questions, just post! :D
