Hi
I have a pdl company calling me all day at work (18) times yesterday, went to my house twice. Is this legal to go to my house and harass my 17 year old son while I am at work. Why are they doing this? Do they think I am going to go "here take my money". I am in the process of consolidation and they will start getting their money next week as I have told them. Who can I call about this or contact?? Thanks in advance

I am new to the site. I have dealt with collection agencies and the like myself as a consumer. My belief is that with so much consumer debt that is growing by leaps and bounds and with the debt collection industry running amuk, with a new President in another year and consumers being blead dry by predatory collection practices, that the Feds will sooner or later have no choice but to step in and start investigating the industry. If and when this happens, there will be a lot of debt collection companies closing down, arrests will be made, and a lot of these phone terrorists will wind up in the pen. debt collectors beware! start policing yourself and cleaning up your own houses or the feds will do it for you!

Bandi and Jeanne,
First off, welcome to the forum! We are glad you are here. Bandi, I do share your sentiments, but I can tell both you and Jeanne that there are options right now.
Jeanne, since the PDL is making housecalls, I'm assuming it's a storefront? I would strongly suggest writing what's called a Cease and Desist letter to them, telling them that they can't keep calling you at work, visiting your home, etc. I would suggest having them contact you by mail, which is what I did when I was going through it. I always felt that you had to give them at least one avenue of communication. If they balk at not calling you at work, tell them if you get fired, then noone's getting paid--and they will have shot themselves in the foot. I would also take your boss into your confidence if you can and tell him or her about it. The best defense is a good offense,

I am confused Jeanne, did the payday loan people actually go to your home and harrass your son or did they call your home?? You both can send cease and desist letters to these slimeballs. They are probably illegal lenders so may not listen but at least you can have in writing that you asked them to stop. You can also complain to your state attorney generals office about these tactics.

freaky, this is what we were talking about. The first post on this thread regarding someone going to this person's house and threatening their child:

good call freaky, these clowns can do nothing.
but the OP needs to revoke any wage assignments.
this will stop them totally,if they try to push the wage assignment, some employers will honor it.that truly frightens me.otherwise they have no recourse at all.
