Can I be living in FL and be bank levied in NY for a jdmt?

I was sued in NY by a credit card Co in 06 and I have been a resident in FL since 05. The judgement went in the Credit Card Co favor (I knew nothing of this because everything was being sent to my NY old address). A year and 1/2 later hence the levy. I did open the BOA account in NY. Should that make a difference since under FL statue 222.2 they can not levy my account if I am a resident, and head of househould(I live by myself).
SOMEONE, PLEASE HELP ME!!!

From what I understand, an authority in Florida would have typically notified you of a "sister-state judgment" clause that many creditors have been known to file. This occasionally happens when a debtor has moved out of state. However, if the account was opened in NY (and transferred to FL), the creditor would be acting under NY statute, and would possibly be able to use their laws alone to pursue the item in question. These SSJ laws do vary by state, and may be honored in some states but not others. For example, I was sued by an insurance company in IL in 2004, but had moved to KS in 2003, and nothing has been filed here - the J is still listed in IL. It may not be a bad idea to consult a professional on this, to see what your rights are, since the judgment was brought after you relocated. Good luck to you, and I hope everything is cleared up soon.
NY State Tax Levy served to me in Florida
Owned a business in 1982- accountant closed everything up and the business went under. Received no notice from NY State-years later NY State applied my tax return and I never received them in the future. Called NY State in 2001 & was told I owed 3 quarters sales tax from 1982 in the aprox. amount of $3-4,000. Now with interest & penalities it was 103,912.40. Speaking to NYS sales tax people I found out they were mailing to the shop address-the shop had been closed for years. I got married, moved to Florida and never heard again. Today NYS Commissioner of taxation & finance served a levy on my checking account.
Can they do this since I live in Fl- and what recourse do I have?
