1. Is there a agency such as Consumer credit counseling that can help me with a payday loan? I only have one payday that I owe but I owe them close to a grand and do not have the funds. The loan is with Checksmart and they tell me they will not accept a payment plan.
2. I sent their local branch a cease and desists letter and they stopped calling me at work, but their corporate office continues to call me and they tell me that there is nothing that I can do to stop them, is this true?

Big Red, it seems several people are having trouble with this company. I am not sure which company will deal with your situation but the two most popular pdl counseling places are Langhorn and Towne & Country. You can research what members say about them by typing the company name in the search box at the top right corner of the page. You can also do that with Check Smart. ANother suggestion would be to file a complaint against the company with the BBB at bbb.org. You could also try filing a complaint with the Ohio Division of Financial Institutions. The contact information is below.
