Gas Prices

OMG! I thought Cali had the most expensive gas.. OUCH!

Gosh, you guys, guess I will stop complaining about our gas--it went up to $3.69 here. WE have three cars between us, and can't afford to fill them all up anymore, jut a half tank at a time, and don't know how long we can do that! Sure don't know what we would do if it was that high--walk, I guess :lol:

It just hit $4.00 a gallon here in Oregon too . . . .

We've been wanting to buy our 16-yr old a car and we can afford the actual car but not the damn gas for a 3rd car! I feel for your bossy with 3 cars.

I went grocery shopping yesterday..I wont even get started on that. :(

With the 3 cars, we certainly make our errands count,a nd try to do several things at once.

I know what you mean about groceries!! I am paying about double on my grocery bill now :x My youngest son came over the other day and said he was at the store buying milk for the kids and didn't know how long they could pay that price for it! At lease he is getting some good lessons in finance and how much things cost--didn't seem to bother him when he was at home :lol: karen

3.70 for regular unldeaded and 3.99 for the supreme.

the kicker is,gas was 4.11 on MONDAY.it took about 3 days to rise 10 cents.think it will ever go down as drastically?

doubt it....it might level off a bit and drop slowly. But with summertime coming, I can only imagine it will go up. :(

BTW... $3.85 for regular here in southern Vermont. Ten cents more, seven miles away in New York.

3.99 down the street from me in CA--but $4.05 where I work!!

update:yesterday 4.21 today 4.30.and the hits just keep on coming. :roll: :x

$3.89 in NC and they looked like they were changing the price on my way in....

One thing to keep in mind I suppose is that it's summer, with that in mind your looking at peak travel times. It always goes up in the summer. Never good for the consumer.

Yesterday went from 3.59 to 3.79 here in KY :cry:

This is really bad especially since the average income in my area is between 10 and 12 dollars per hour....figure federal tax, state tax, local occupational tax we pay and then almost $4.00 per gallon for gas...

One of the stations I went to the other day had a pie-chart style graph showing taxes, fees, and what the actual gas costs. I will take a pic of it with my phone and post it here....unless someone can find it on the net.

Heres something interesting I just read...

The last year Clinton was in office a barrel of gas cost $37.00 we were paying around $2 a gallon......Ironically "Dubya" criticized Clinton for not knowing how to properly negotiate with the King of Saudi Arabia. Now 8 years later a barrel of gas is almost at $140 a barrel and its still climbing.

I dont want to get into politics or anything but facts are facts!

We are at $4.15 out here in the boonies in Michigan...for the cheap stuff. Hevnly_chic - isn't it amazing how it can range 10-20 cents from town to town?

I'm not going far this weekend. I HAVE to make a trash run to the dump, and then to the bank, all in all, about 40 miles round trip - and I'm hating that right now.

I drive a tiny rice burner and do not travel far unless I am on the clock.I seriously think this pricing garbage is 100% political based as I work in the oil industry and our rigs are finding quite a bit on domestic soil.

3.73 here today and that was the cheapest around. I am so glad I drive a fuel efficient car. 29MPG City.

I place a large blame on the brokers on Wallstreet. Their interest isn't the economy, it's their pockets.

There is a solution to diesel at least. If you aren't worried about voiding a warranty, which this will, but if you aren't worried about that, then you can "make" your own diesel. You can go online and buy the kit. I think it costs us originally $70 for the additives, but they lasted about 100 gallons or so. Then you go around to different resturants and get their used veggie oil. You strain it and add a few things to it and voila you have "diesel". Our truck ran fine on it. It ended up costing about $0.65 per gallon as opposed to $4.70 a gallon...

This morning I drove by a cheap gsa station and it was $3.96...I thought 'wow-I will stop there after work and fill up at that price". I head over there this afternoon, same gas station now $4.10 7 hours later!

Google 'biodiesel'. Not something you could do in your apartment, but a viable solution, nontheless.

his last summer in office,putting it to the
people while handing out some rebates to try
to take peoples attention away from the gas
prices.a golden balloon so to speak.i don't
think his tactic worked.

I think it's a case of supply and demand. What we need to do is start using public transit more, use car and vanpools, etc. If the oil industry sees that sales are going down, they're going to drop prices. One of the reasons they have such outrageous price increases is because they know Americans will suck it up and pay them.
We have to change this mindset.

I live in a very small town in southwest virginia and gas here is at 3.86 and rising. I'm sure it won't be long at all before it hits 4.00 a gallon. I don't know what people are going to do if it doesn't stop rising. Wages sure aren't going up and a lot of people in the area are pretty much just making min wage I don't know how in the world they are paying just for gas. Basically if you're just making min wage all you're doing is working so you can pay for the gas to come back to work. With summer coming I'm pretty sure gas will only keep rising. We generally take a lot of trips to dollywood being it's only about 1.5 hrs away but I'm not real sure how much we're going to be doing that this summer due to the high gas prices.

We were actually going to take a trip to Pigeon Forge/Sevierville.however, the airline we were going to utilize went belly up do to fuel costs.

I am in California and i just paid $4.39 yesterday, Ugh!

When is this going to end? Hasn't big oil made enough yet? What is GWB Texas Oil Man doing about it. Nothing! Why should he? He is leaving office anyway!

I used to work for one of "those" oil companies...I used to set prices for aviation fuels...let me tell you, it was NICE when March rolled around and we'd get our bonuses...11-15 percent of your annual income, based upon your "reviews" throughout the year. I left 3 years ago, when prices weren't this bad. I'd LOVE to get one of the bonuses now. I talked to a friend that still works there, she received her bonus in March. She received 22 percent for 1 bonus and 18 for the other. That is like 13080 for one bonus and 10000 for the other. Maybe I should go back!
