Do you think having a website/blog of your own is good?

Myself Sharon. I'm pretty new to this community.
I do maintain a few blogs but haven't been able to monetize them yet. There are not enough clicks on ads.
Can anyone suggest?

Keep working on good content, once you are getting enough visits put different ads and test the ones that are working for you. You can use Google's A/B and multi variant testing with Google optimizer.

I started my first blog Christmas Day last year. I knew NOTHING about blogging but it was pretty easy to figure out. I started it because I was inspired by a few blogs I read by debtcc members before I even became one. That is what made me join here and realize...hey I am not the only one going through this stuff! I use it now to keep track of where I am going and where I have been in my fight against debt. I was hesitant to put it all out there on the "world wide web" but I do maintain my anonymity. It definitely helps me deal with stuff when I write it all in my blog. If someone reads it and gets inspired-it makes it all the better.

As far as making money with it-I have not made much.I hope to but as it stands right now since Christmas-I got a whole 10 bucks in my Google Adsense account. Maybe it will change once I get more readers. We will see. The way I look at it is, that is $10 more than I had before I started the blog for a few minutes of my time.

would love to do something like that but am not a good writer and have no idea what to do...

girlndebt, good work with the blog. It has some good content. All you need is some 2 topics a week, which are of high quality. The posts that are coming out of self experience and are detailed attract more traffic. It will take time to pickup. Keep blogging regularly and do ask other bloggers to add you to their blogroll.

You can also start - Topic of the week from forums across the web. Take a new topic which appears on any of the forums and discuss about it.


whiterock73, I have seen many becoming writers because of blogging. Blogging is not about perfection but about talking. Talk Talk and Talk.

I think it is a great idea. I had a friend who was having banking issues and I sent her to MCA's web site and she was so happy because she did not know where to turn and was able to find the answers she needed. In my opinion this site is about helping yourself to financial freedom whether it be getting out of the pdl cycle, dealing with your credit issues to increase your credit score, dealing with and recovering from bankruptcy or consolidating your debt. Part of becomming more financially stable inludes learning about income and increasing it can only help you achieve the goal. With the increased use of the internet, what better way to reach as many people as possible and help them as well.

Tania just like I said everyone is entitled to be wrong..I think if you are wrong for what you feel are the right reasons makes a big difference...I have many friends who I think are wrong in their actions and behaviour but I try to understand their motivations and reasons behind actions if I am convinced in my dealings with them that they are indeed a good person...but it truly does hurt when you find out where people stand when push comes to shove..I love you and your package is in the mail..I know you don't care about material things but i have lots of little things to show you that even though you might disagree with me and I was hurt when you bailed and called me out without trying to understand why...I know you are still the true angel on this sight and you know that I have defended you many times from people who try to pick on you and will continue to do so when I am here....I do not want people to be taken advantage of Tania..you are a prime example..one with a blind husband who does not understand English that well...if we were all perfect here I guess we could be walking on water this Sunday instead of celebrating the man who did! I have several blogs that I run. However, the one for my son is probably the most updated, and I like doing it Family from all over are able to see his pictures and his updates. It's nice and free since I don't have to mail anything to anyone.

I tried to start my own blog and website, it is probaly the hardest thing I have done and still is all a mess.

i am looking into starting a blog. i have one (i asked for one for this site) and am going to do everything i can to promote, etc once i get things started. I will keep everyone updated as to if it really works or not though. :) i have no idea, but i thought i should maybe give it a try.. i am sick of being broke and i need money to not only pull me out of debt but to establish savings so i will not fall back in it.

sure! I have a blog on tips to save. Honestly there is no intention of making any money with my blog. But It seems to be slowly getting more traffic. Even if I dont make any money with my blog it helps me feel like im doing something good in the world to help others with things i have tried and use daily to save me money, companies i used that worked well for me and more. If i benefit with it some day im sure it wont be much. But I look at it that doing something good will eventually pay off somewere even if its when i meet the maker! Who knows, but i feel good about sharing my story to others and how i survived.

I agree a good website or a blog can earn you decent revenue in time to come.

You need to post the right material, get a good community following, and basically attract mass hits on a per day basis.

Once you achieve that then the dollars and advertisers will come knocking at your door to place their ads on your website/blog.

I do have a blog. Actually, for money making purposes. At the beginning, when im just starting to make a blog, i find it very difficult. You need to work very hard to attract visitors. Design and layout are where first impression came. Next, if the visitor find your site very well design then the urge from them to read your content will came. You are responsible for interesting and latest content for your blog. You need to make sure that there is something in our blog that makes our visitors come back.

Back on topic I started a website a few months ago and had to let it go when I lost my job! I recently started a blog! i believe if I work hard at it, I can make some really good money because others are doing it! I also would like to start a forum about lighting. I have been in the business for thirty years and can help anyone who needs advice! I found a site called Simplemachines that seems to make it easy to start. I could use some advice if anyone could help. Please do not reply if you are a person who is a skeptic when it comes to making money on line. I am not promoting MLM. I think that MLM is what keeps people from their dreams by making them think that all internet opportunties are scams. This is far from the truth!

hang in there frogpatch! im with ya! dreams are what makes us work hard to achieve goals. What works for some wont work for others and vice versa. Im still dreaming that one day i will stumble across what i am ment to do. I believe whole heartedly that there is money to made on the internet, its just finding it.
