My daughter lives in Atlanta and said her apartment building was untouched--but a mile down her street was blocked off. These tornados are so random!!

Yes they are...I used to live in S.D. (i am from Oregon) I was scared to death of those things. we then moved to MN and had numerous Tornados..They can just totally demolish one place and leave the building right next door untouched.

No don't ever get under an overpass, the winds will suck you right out from under it. The video that is famous with the little girl is the exception, that was a small F-1 tornado that passed over them. Do not try and outrun in a car, pull over and get in a ditch

Any port in a storm, as it were.....
In i981 or thereabouts I was riding with a pack of the Brothers [about twenty of us] on I-40 near Sayre, Oklahoma. There was a tornado visible in the immediate area, so we took to the overpass [no ditch available]. We made it within a couple of minutes before the funnel passed overhead. It trashed several of our bikes with flying debris in passing and knocked over all but 2 of them, but it didn't suck anybody out of our hidey-holes.
