I live in Texas and have several PDLs. Most I have already paid more than the original loan amount. The breakdown is below. Has anyone had luck calling the companies and telling them the account is closed and nothing more is owed?

BIG-loan amount 250, paid 320.
Paycheck Today-loan amount 300, paid 360.
Cash Andvance Network-loan amount 150, paid 225.
Apple-loan amount 500, paid 820.
Loan Shop-loan amount 300, paid 270 so far.
CashNetUSA-loan amount 500, paid 375 so far.

roxy, I think (of course) BIG will be internet and not licensed. Paycheck Today will be internet and not licensed. Loan Shop will be internet - and I'm not sure if licensed. Texas has the whole CSO "thing". Cash Advance Network (CAN) - why is that ringing a bell with me regarding being related to MTE??? Having nightmares here! Apple? Haven't heard of Apple. Have you? CashNetUSA , of course, will be licensed. Cash Advance Network.... why oh why is that standing out as an MTE. Someone posted something about CAN and then came back and said it was Cash Advance Network and related to MTE, which was a new one on me. If this is indeed true, I need to add it to my 'list'.

Here is a thread on CAN and there are many more linking it...it is MTE.

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/collection-agencies/cashadvance-network.html

And...Apple is in Deleware...

Mac, you need to work out payment plans with the one that are licensed. The ones that are not, if you have paid back what you borrowed, you are done. You do need to close your account...please read this thread about closing your account. There is alot of good iformtioan in it.

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/close-account.html

Do not contact any of the pdls until your account is taken care of.

Looks like mac only has one licensed one to worry about? CashNetUSA, correct? Apple is in Delaware? Did you see if licensed in Texas? Just curious. I can check if you haven't, roxy. I also updated my MTE d/b/a thread so I'm not retarded again about CAN! mac, like roxy said, do NOT let the pdls know you are closing your bank account. Read the link she posted for you regarding closing it. Make sure it can not be forced back open. If you have any questions regarding closing your account, please post. We can help you. Also, I'm going to do a "run down" on your loans.

License
Number Master Licensee DBA Operating Name City ST
11278 KF FINANCIAL SERVICES, LLC THE LOAN SHOP MIDLAND TX
11279 KF FINANCIAL SERVICES, LLC THE LOAN SHOP

Does this mean The Loan Shop is licensed in Texas? It's saying KF Financial Services d/b/a The Loan Shop.

mac, these numbers are based upon if the pdl is not licensed/illegal to lend to you.

BIG borrowed 250/paid 320/OVERPAID 70
Paycheck Today borrowed 300/paid 360/OVERPAID 60
Cash Advance borrowed 150/paid 225/OVERPAID 75
Apple borrowed 500/paid 820/OVERPAID 320
Loan Shop borrowed 300/paid 270/OWE 30
CashNetUSA - you will have to go by what they say, unfortunately. As they are operating legally as a CSO in Texas.

Ok, just wanted to give an update and ask a few more questions. I closed my account and I am now getting calls about payments. Most have not been nasty, but the Loan Shop sent me an email stating they will pursue further collection activity. I realize I still owe these folks $30, but they are requesting the original loan amount. Can they send this to collections? I don't want my credit damaged.

I appreciate everyone's hep with this stupid mess.

mac, damn! I don't know about The Loan Shop! That's the one that has me lost! However, with them asking for the priciple amount (even though you've paid) makes me wonder.... I'm going to pm another member to see if she can help here. She's good at the whole Texas/CSO thing. Because if these guys are licensed or a CSO, we might have to handle them as a legal one. Hang on and I'll send a pm.

Also, I haven't heard anything from the others except Apple, and they have been calling about every day. No nasty voicemails. I'm worried that the others haven't tried to contact me. Is it possible they won't? It seems these guys would be ugly as heck, b ut I haven't experienced it at all.

So what are my next steps? I have read other posts that advise to send letters to these huys. Do I need to do that or should I just let it go? Like I said, they aren't calling non stop or getting ugly, but that doesn't mean they never will. Also, how do I get their addresses?

Thanks again to all for the great advice and help.

Thank you, goudah! :D

mac, I'm listing your pdls and amounts for you again from a previous post:

I can post a letter for you to use to send to your illegal plds (your bank account is safe, correct?). You can not use this letter for CashNetUSA - they are licensed/legal.

You will have to re-word the letter to fit each particular pdl, dollar amount, and situation. If you have any questions, just post. We can help you.

The letter is great! Thanks so much for your help.

One more question, probably a stupid one. Should I continue to ignore the voicemails? They will be getting a letter within a few days, as I will mail them off right away. But what should I do with the phonecalls?

As for the legal pdl, did I read on another thread they must accept an extended payment plan?

Ignore the calls. You want everything in writing. You are covering your butt this way. If they want to contact you, they can email you or put something in the USPS to you. Get all documentation you possibly can.

Are you talking about CashNetUSA being the 'legal' one? I don't know if they offer the EPP; however, you do need to contact them (since they are licensed/legal) and make payment arrangements that are NOT debits from your account. Get an alternative form of payment that you can send them.
