Just had this thought due to some debate on banning anonymous posting in forum. Are you comfortable in disclosing your identity on forums? What are the pros and cons if we stop anonymous posting in forums?

You will have to post in with your original name and your identity will be verified by a forum member before allowing you to post.

(We will always allow anonymity at Debtcc forums)

i have nothing to hide.all the people who i currently have complaints or dv requests for,are being dealt with.

I can not have my "true name" out there becuase of my work. There are other people who have posted that they were in the same position. They have actually posted that they could loose their jobs over their financial difficulties. One person who worked in an accounting firm did, over her pdl issues. As JCEMT said about google-ing your name..that could really hurt some of the members and has the potential to keep others from getting the help they need.

I would feel uncomortable discussing personal matters if my name were public. I would not want people I know to stumble upon my payday loan mess or what have you. What about other forums like medical! They would dry up! Besides I am in the witness protection program! LOL. Just kidding! I left it a year ago. Kidding again!

If posting under actual names became a requirement, I'd be gone. I've grown to love this place, and I consider some of you as 'really-extended family'. But I have valid reasons, both personal and professional, to keep my private life private.

I deal with sensitive data on behalf of my clients. As an IT consultant, I have their businesses literally in the palm of my hand. While my financial woes are older than dirt and all but insignificant compared to many I read here, would you want me hacking on your servers, knowing I was an active member of a site like this? Think about it....

I agree-- With the type of work I do, don't want angry clients who I have had to testify against hunting me down  Someone else said it, there are too many nuts out there!!

I have already had some problem with people Pming me with nasty accusations and such, don't need any more!!..Karen

Nope. I wouldn't want my personal information made public. Like others have stated, we use a "screen name" for a reason. Hell, no, I don't want anyone to know my "drama" except the people here - who know me as cannr. And, I've already been dogged by a few people just as cannr! LOL! You think I want my NAME out there? Oh, no, no, no!!!!
