Are You a Compulsive Debtor?

1. Are your debts making your home life unhappy?
2. Does the pressure of your debts distract you from your daily work?
3. Are your debts affecting your reputation?
4. Do your debts cause you to think less of yourself?
5. Have you ever given false information in order to obtain credit?
6. Have you ever made unrealistic promises to your creditors?
7. Does the pressure of your debts make you careless of the welfare of your family?
8. Do you ever fear that your employer, family or friends will learn the extent of your total indebtedness?
9. When faced with a difficult financial situation, does the prospect of borrowing give you an inordinate feeling of relief?
10. Does the pressure of your debts cause you to have difficulty sleeping?
11. Has the pressure of your debts ever caused you to consider getting drunk?
12. Have you ever borrowed money without giving adequate consideration to the rate of interest you are required to pay?
13. Do you usually expect a negative response when you are subject to a credit investigation?
14. Have you ever developed a strict regimen for paying off your debts, only to break it under pressure?
15. Do you justify your debts by telling yourself that you are superior to the "other" people, and when you get your "break" you'll be out of debt overnight?

It should read: Do you justify harassing people by telling yourself you are superior to "other" people, and when you get your "bonus" you'll be even more superior.

LOL!
You know, my response to most of these questions would not be the fact that I do have debts, and have been unemployed for over a year now, isn't what is making me miserable. What really is making me miserable is the constant phone calls, and the verbal abuse I receive from some crooked CA's. I know I'm in debt and need to pay; however, I never planned or expected my life to go in the direction it has over the past, almost, two years. No amount of constant phone calls and abusive behavior is going to cause me to produce money I just don't have.
If I had the ability to pay off these debts I would certainly do it, just so I can get some peace.

UnemployedRon,
If it is any consolation to you, I pray for your peace of mind and that all of which you have been hoping for will come to pass so that you can pay these wolves off and get your life back.

Gotta say something to THIS thread. A Compulsive Debtor: somone who KNOWS they are in debt and CONTINUES to run debt up. However.......from I have read in this thread, I DON'T believe anyone here is doing that. People, on this thread ( and in this forum, I may add) are trying to get out of debt.
All of these trolls out here...do they REALLY believe we are happier BEING in debt?!
Of course not. But stop and think a minute..... Statistics show that lots of these collectors have debt of their own that's being collected upon. It stands to reason, being in a high-stress, low-prestige, low-pay field, for the most part, and dependent on that monthly bonus check to salvage anything above minimum wage. Sure, there are the exceptions to the rule, like some of the collectors who frequent this board. But that's why they're referred to as exceptions, they don't fit the majority profile.
For some, they doubtless get a power kick from trolling on boards like this. Maybe some just like the feeling that there's somebody, someplace, that they can feel superior to. Who really cares? Trolling a board is the act of a coward, a contemptible person without honor or courage.
Many of us ignore them. I bust them every chance I get, in the hope that newcomers to our board won't believe their lies and bullsh*t. For my part, I'd live under a bridge in a cardboard box before I'd work for some of these outfits.

Let's focus on those that need help instead of bothering with this drivel. I certainly wouldn't want this to be the highlight of a help forum should I be looking for help.
