Back in 2005, I was in a car accident. I was not a licensed driver at that time, and was taking my daily commute via public transportation to work.

I was crossing a street and was hit by a pickup truck. Fortunately, I had only sustained serious injury to my shoulder which did require surgery. Could have been worse, right?

Anyway, I was advised at the scene of the accident to go to the hospital to be examined, since I was a pedestrian.

My insurance company paid a portion of the bill (which they then went after the driver's insurance, since I did not have car insurance or a driver's license, and thus he was 100% responsible for all of my medical bills). I was then invoiced for $84.00.

In October of 2005, I met with an attorney and gave him all of the medical bills pertaining to my accident , including the $84 ambulance bill. They were then sent to the driver's insurance company for payment.

A few months later I received a call from a collections agency stating that I owed the $84.00. I explained to them the situation and legally was not responsible for the debt. I gave them the contact information for my attorney and that they should contact my attorney's office.

I just checked my credit report and now that $84 is showing up as unpaid and delinquent. I've left a voicemail for my attorney's office and have not received a callback as of yet.

Not only that, I disputed the debt online and they verified the debt is correct and that i owe it.

Does anyone know what I can do to get this off my credit report?

I would LOVE to be able to do that, but he's in Pennsylvania (where I lived at the time when the accident occurred) and I'm in CT. I can't really afford to take a day off to sit there and demand answers. I didn't hear from them by EOB yesterday, so at 9am sharp I'm calling them back again today.

BTW, on a random note, I like your Zappa-esque signature. :-)
