Welcome to the Community :D Have you signed up with them, is that right?
I would be really concerned about their rating, but I am no expert.
Try to google them and search to see if their is any info on them.
Also, make sure that you get everything in writing and that everything is spelled out that you want to know--terms, fees, time to pay off, when creditors get paid, etc..
Good Luck--feel free to ask questions..KAren

Bossy, thanks for the reply..yes, we have already signed up with them and they have taken their first payment out...it's like they take out so much and we save the rest for our payments..once i have enough for the first bill then I contact the creditor to make a payment...
The good thing is there is not much complaints on them that i can find..that is why i signed up this morning with the community to seek advice here...
Thanks so much for a quick response...

You are welcome, just make sure you keep on top of them, and that you have things in writing.
Also, are you able to contact them and speak with someone when you want? Sometimes I read that some people cannot get ahold of the people they sign up with.
Feel free to ask questions, and also, search the Forums and see what others have done in your situation..Karen :D

Bossy, i did go and searched their name on this forum, but it seems there is nothing out there. I have talked to my rep a couple of times, but he has not been returning my calls the last couple of times..so what I plan to do is call every day and email and hound them until i get my answers.
My son used them back in 2000 and was happy. Hopefully someone else out here has used them and can tell me how it was for them...
thanks again for your assistance.

this is a new company. Not the same one that the above poster mentioned from 2000. This co. is not even in business long enough to join the bbb which is only 1 year. Considering it takes 5-6 months to settle, plus you are paying your up front fees for several months before you start saving, have they settled even one account?
I refuse to pay a debt settlement company a set up fee but I would never join a company in business for less than a year.

I agree with you guest about not joining any company who has been in business less than a year!.... but I also think that sometimes people panic..and common sense goes out the window and desperation sets in when they are hounded by collectors and overwhelmed with debt...however...in my community..there are soooo many people under the age of 30....who didn't make a house payment in the past 6 months...were in the midst of foreclosure..simply didn't pay a penny...and walked away from their obligations and payments because they were so far upside down in their homes....that even an honest attempt would have meant a life-time in chains.....there are so many people walking away from debt and not looking back..and so many lenders tightening up the new lending process..(in shock from their HUGE losses and terrible investments)...these times are a changing..but if these people haven't paid a house payment in 6 months a (200,000 + debt)...I hardly think they care about paying the credit card debt( normally less than $20,000)knowing that because they defaulted on their home...their credit history is now a new work in progress....and they can actually walk away from it all because once they left the house behind..every thing else is in the minor leagues....j.m.o. but if you trashed your credit because your home went into foreclosure...who cares about debt to master card discover visa and am ex?..who is anyone kidding here?

I am not sure why I can't log in (elbrown); but I guess I am confused with this company not being the same one as my son used. I guess I will see what happens. Now I am worried, but will just keep in close contact with these folks and go from there. Not sure what else to do; I am new at this and thought it was the same company as my son used...

I have to say I looked into them but opted not to go with them based on the Rating of "F" with the BBB. I personally didn't want to take the chance.

Well, I didn't realize that this company had only been in the business for a year since my son had used them or that's what he thought the company name was.. I would have not think about looking at BBB to research this company..
I am older and my husband had a heart attack a year ago and with him being self employed and myself doing what I can on Ebay; our bills just got so behind. So of course I just took the advise from my son and figured this was a legitimate company.. And they may be; just not a whole lot out there about them. This site has nothing on them...
So that's why I thought about joining to see if there was just someone that has good dealings with them.
I appreciate any advice or comments made here....

all I can say is good luck elbo!!!
I can understand how by being older and self employed that you expect others in business to be on the up -and- up!!!!
We weren't equipped with that automatic non-trusting nature that younger people have built into them these days!!!
Good luck!!!!don't have advice but wish you the best!!!
DONT USE THEM!
I use to work for this company. They are shadey, I worked there for 2 weeks and then quit because it was just to weird. They use a company out of Texas called EFA processing that does all there back end work for them. I have the owners cell # if you need it. They have an F rating for reason! ONLY USE a compant that puts your funds into an ESCROW ACCOUNT!!! The creditors can sue you and if they do they will garnish your bank accounts!!
I Trust New Horizons Debt Relief
New Horizons Debt Relief is a GREAT company!
It???s hard to imagine that a company that has been in business for 3 years and received an accreditation through BSI and USOBA would be considered ???shady???. Angry ex-employees are just that ???angry ex-employees???. When I spoke with New Horizons Debt Relief they were very informative. They explained all of my options and if you read a little more in detail all of the debt settlement companies in the LA area have an F rating. Look at these sites:
newsguide.us/education/USOBA-Responds-to-the-BBB
&
bbbroundup.com/
If you knew more about debt settlement, which I???m sure this was explained to you as it was explained to me when I asked my representative at New Horizons Debt Relief, you would know that putting money in an escrow account means that those funds would have to be distributed within 30 days. That???s not how the New Horizons Debt Relief program works for consumers trying to settle their debt. I had to save my money and when I have enough to settle they talk to the creditor and get an offer for me. They???re not like consolidation, I looked into consolidation and there was NO way I would be able to afford a program like that. I trust New Horizons Debt Relief and I look forward to doing business with them and becoming debt free.

Was that obvious or what? :) But they are right, you can't rely on BBB when dealing with the Debt Settlement industry. (Although we still have an A and work hard to keep it, many people still think BBB ratings are worth something)
The main thing to check out is the number of years in business, the number of complaints divided by number of clients.
I also recommend you call their customer service department a few times first to see how they handle their calls. The best company's customer service depts pick up in the first or second ring and/or answer at all :P

totally agree, frankly while i was in the settlement process i cant imagine having to track down my accounts, i found out recently that some companies outsource the accounts. So if you want to find the status, you call them, they give you another # then you have to find out who is dealing with your accounts, sometimes the same person doesnt handle your accounts and nobody knows anything. talk about fustrating. Customer service is extremely important the process is hard enough without having to deal with that

New Horizon gave me a debt relif loan for my mortgage which was 3 months behind. Seems to be working good for me they gave me a 5% interest rate and no payments for 6 months after the original start date. I would give them 5 stars based on service up to this point. But it sounds like you are looking more so for credit card relif.

I used them for the last 14 months and they are useless. They promise your credit won't be hurt and that they can settle your accounts for 20 to 30%. They are all lies. I fired them last month and after paying them over $3,000 they offered me a $200 refund. I'm going to complain to whoever will listen. They are ruthless liars. You can put your money to better use by just settling with the credit card companies yourself. The first time I needed them was because I was being sued by one of the credit card companies. They wanted an extra $250 just for advice. They are no better than the credit card companies. I just got a copy of my credit report and most of the cards have been charged off. The first settlement offer they offered me was 50% and that was 50% of $5,000 which was a $4,000 balance when I quit paying them. I am disabled also and they said there was a program they had that would help me even more. A supervisor was supposed to contact me but never did. This went on about 3 different times. I finally found out they no longer offer this program. I am so frustrated that I even started this with them. NEW HORIZONS sucks!!!!!!!!!
New horizon dept relief
New Horizon DEbt Relief has been with me nearly five years. They are expensive for their down and their monthly as I pay 85 a month They had 10 charges of mine . I negotiated 6 myself without their help and They set up 1 by themselves. I have 3 left with them and 3 of my own to figure out. Personally I think if I had faiyhfully put away on a walmart visa card The 400 I pay them ,then I would be able to settle with the company on my own. Say you have a $5,999 charge you pay them 2,700 them 85 a month when you could call the charge company and offer them in cash on the spot 2,599. Let them pull it off you visa walmart card and you are paid. Dont forget to claim it on your taxes as you have to pay the IRS the taxes on the differances in all settlements . I would go on my own. Remember third parties involved in your collection can not attach wages or sue you. I dont answer the phone or the door and I refuse to have any contact. Then when I am ready I call the main card holder to negoiate the loest amount that they will give me Then I tell them ok take it out of my Visa card that I put money into and then use my money whenever I want. Cards hold up to 1000 each and it only cost you $3 to get them and they cash your checks too. No more ripp off banks to deal with.

New Horizon's
I contacted them about 10 years ago when I was really down on my luck and falling behind on bills. They told me to send a MONEY ORDER for $299 and that would get the ball rolling on my path to better financial footing. I was told to do the following:
1) Stop paying my monthly credit card payments (MAN DID THAT COME BACK TO BITE ME LATER)
2) Contact all my creditors to stop calling me and to start calling the name and number New Horizon's gave me.
As a result of the above actions, my interest rates on my credit cards shot up through the roof for non payment and my credit score dropped even further.
When I tried to contact the company I was told that they were dropping me as a customer because I did not follow their instructions to the letter and that I harassed them on the phone and that was a violation of their policy and they would not refund my $299.
I can not say enough bad things about them even 10 years later. They offer false hope and steal money. My advice to people in financial trouble is do what I did, make major changes in your spending habits and get a 2nd job.
