I have a medical bill I am paying on..it did however go into collections but I did send the original creditor a payment last month. To this date it has not been cashed. I call the collection agency and I get no where...You can mail payments to the original creditor? I'm just wondering why the slow process is?

you should contact the original creditor and inform them of the payment, and ask why they havent cashed it yet. see what they tell you. The CA isnt going to know anything about that payment because it wasnt sent to them, and I am guessing at this point that the OC still owns the debt. So, any money collected would be sent to the OC anyways.

I'm not sure if this applies to every health care provider, but, I learned something interesting from a friend of mine. I was told that most hospitals and some health care providers offer a hardship payment plan, or will even write off the remainder of your medical bill if you meet their income guidelines. This is something they don't advertise, nor will they ever tell you about it. I asked about it, and low and behold the hospital I owe sent me an application, and I more then met the guidelines. My suggestion is you ask about it. You never know. :)
