The CA isnt going to know anything about that payment because it wasnt sent to them, and I am guessing at this point that the OC still owns the debt. So, any money collected would be sent to the OC anyways.

I'm not sure if this applies to every health care provider, but, I learned something interesting from a friend of mine. I was told that most hospitals and some health care providers offer a hardship payment plan, or will even write off the remainder of your medical bill if you meet their income guidelines. This is something they don't advertise, nor will they ever tell you about it. I asked about it, and low and behold the hospital I owe sent me an application, and I more then met the guidelines. My suggestion is you ask about it. You never know. :)

Better yet, just send the CA a DV letter and have done with it. You have a right to know that you are paying the right party.
