Has anyone ever hired an attorney to deal with collection agencies and any account referred to legal departments or lawyers. Just wondering if I should continue on my own or get a lawyer to handle things.

I hired an attorney to handle collection agencies and it was the best thing I could do. He took it on a contingency basis which cost nothing out of pocket. The calls stopped almost immediately. He is filing suits for fdcpa violations against almost all of them. I could not afford an attorney is what I heard all the time. You can get an attorney. You just have to look. What state are you in? Try the NACA website as a start!

I found an attorney at naca.net, they are also listed on this form as helpingtexas.com. ALL the harassing calls stopped, the collectors paid my bills and I received a cash settlement for all the harassing calls they were making. If you can find a lawyer to take your case on a contingent fee, do it.
