Another Cash Transfer Center Question

Well, I get this letter on Friday via mail and it states that it's licensed by the government of Malta and that not the State of Michigan applies to it's terms..well I am not from Michigan for one thing...
I am not wanting to Money Gram or Western Union their payments as it cost more money to do so...SO, shall I just send them another email stating the only way they will get paid is what I can afford each month and only via money order that I can send to an address.
Advice anyone???

How are you dealing with them after this? I'm also in Texas and have re-loaned over and over with them. Are they indeed illegal in Texas?

CTC is illegal - they are based out of Malta, and therefore have no authority to lend here in the US.
If it were me, I would tally up all my loans (and re-loans) with them, then add up all my payments and subtract that amount from the amount borrowed and only pay back the differece. If I paid back more than I borrowed, then I would request a PIF from them, AND CASE CLOSED!
They are not going to come to Malta to sue you!
I hate those jerks!
...since they are illegal, you are only MORALY obligated to pay what you borrowed. Whether you pay them back is your decision. ;)

If it were me, the email I sent would be fairly short and to the point! No address, no money, it's up to you [them], make a decision because I have better things to do with my time. If they come back with a lot of legal jargon which WILL not apply to you, then that is their problem and no longer yours. :D
I don't know, I guess I have no patience for these unlicensed pdls that do their best to scare and harrass money out of unsuspecting innocent people.

Cynmty,
I have not heard from them in over 3 months. I only received 1 email and 1 piece of mail from them. I did continue to send an email stating that I overpaid on all my re-loans and owe them no more...I am just counting my blessings that I am done with them.
So not much advise as there is not much info to give. Just good luck with them and hopefully they will leave you alone too...I kind of feel the only people they go after are the ones that default after a couple of re-loans. I re-loaned for a year with them, so I more than paid my dues to them.
They are illegal and don't worry about them...they can't do anything to you...

Cynmty,
One more thing to remember; revoke your wage assignment with them as they are bad about sending this to your HR. Luckily they never did with me. Well, not that I know of because I sent my payroll company a letter stating that I revoke wage assignment on them.
Good Luck.

We do advocate paying back the principal amount, after which time you are DONE with them. Please do NOT allow them to scare you into believing you owe them more than you do.
Purplegirl, if you have already paid them the principal amount, why are you concerned with sending money orders? I'm just trying to understand this. :)

I had a loan with CTC and defaulted. I had way over paid and requested a PIF. They sent my file to a collection agency out of Hutchinson, KS. I dv'd them, haven't heard a thing, however, CTC reported me to telecheck. I am disputing that now.
The CA tried to say that they now OWN the debt. Sorry for them!

Shazzers,
If you notice that this post was started back in March and at the time I had just defaulted the last day in Feb and still unsure of my dealings with them. Since then with reading threads and PM's with the experts, I didn't go and continue this thread.
Someone has brought it out of hiding again with a question.
I do agree that you pay back what you borrowed, but I had paid back more than the total principle of all the loans (re-loans) with them. Too much.

Yes, like you, I have re-loaned over and over and have never defaulted, but will come this Friday. I have my letters ready to go though. I do agree with Shazzers and I am willing to pay them back for what I borrowed, even though with all of my re-loans, trust me, I think that they owe my back $, but fine -- I'm willing to just pay what I borrowed last and no more. Another company I guess to add to my complaint list to the AG's office.

Cynmty,
I would add up all the re-loans and all the fees paid back, you might not owe them anything....don't give these people monies if it's not due...they can't touch you at all. just send them a letter saying the total you have paid on their loans and the total fees you have paid and you would want a PIF.

I wholeheartedly agree with Purplegirl, pay them ONLY the principal amount borrowed, and yes, please do make sure you file complaints on them, the more complaints received on these crooks, the better the chances of getting rid of them all together, or at least getting the word out there.

CTC cannot do anything. If they report you to telecheck it can be removed. Just have all your paperwork and dipuste it. It is not a physical check and company is illegal. I do not know how many times this has been repeated.

I received a letter in the mail from CashTransferCenters yesterday, stating that Northway Financial is licensed by the government of Malta as a financial institution, and the law of Malta, not the State of Wisconsin. I've been fighting with them back and forth--they owe me $460 in interest fees, and are demanding me to pay them $300 as a settlement. I already have cases through the BBB and Wisconsin DFI on them, so I guess I'll update those cases with their "offer" and see where it goes.

I got that same letter. It said we are not subject to VA laws, BLAH BLAH BLAH, we accept your settlement of principal amount :) So since when is a US citizen subject to laws of Malta :x This is BS, they owe you a Refund. Just send it in to the BBB as proof they are a non us company and are illegal. They have no jurisdiction here and over you.
Yep, and it looks like the DFI might be able to help me a little
Yep, and it looks like the DFI might be able to help me a little more with this--they're interested in seeing the postmark on the envelope that the letter came in. It was sent from Canada, not Malta.

yeah i had to deal with CTC like a year ago....they are rude...they even sent the HR for the company that i work for a letter to garnish my pay....so hr said that they cant do it unless its court ordered...
