Is it legal for them to tell a client that they can garnish their wages, that they are getting approval from the creditor for the payment arrangements and if I ask to just start a payment plan 2 weeks later than what was originally set?

I lost my job and am trying to get back on track, but instead of them doing what they said, which was if I saw a problem to call them and they would work with me, it all of a sudden became that i was being a problem.

The only money that can be garnished from a pay check is child support or federal funds such as taxes and student loans.

I'm sorry, but that information is incorrect. If you live in a state that allows garnishment for debts, the following can happen:

-your creditor can take you court
-if you don't show up, your creditor can get a judgement against you
-your creditor can then use the judgement to pursue garnishment of your wages.
