I recently recvd a call from Mr. Davis at allied interstate regarding a past due Am Ex bus acct. He had suggested that I transfer $1K to my Sears acct then pay $50 per month. Has anyone heard of such a thing?

First of all, allied interstate is a collection agency. If you put the name in the search box at the left corner of the site, you'll come across many discussions involving this agency. You can read through few of them to learn more about the people you are dealing with.

However, don't agree for any such scheme before you receive the proper debt validation form them. Send them the DV letter and wait for their response.

When I request the letter should I also request that the acct be shown up to date? Or will the acct still show that it is sent to collections even though I have come up with an agreement.

Also - do I have a choice in collection agencies? In other words - I see all of the negative comments about Allied but what choice do I have? Doesn't AmEx direct who collects their accts?

Thank you in advance for your reply

I am in Michigan....Just to clarify - Unfortunately I DO have an AMEX that is in default - and has gone to collections...so I believe that AmcnEx did send this to Allied

When I call AMEX they tell me that they cannot discuss this account since it has been sent to a collection agency.

Can somone tell me please, if it is possible to switch collection agencies?

sorry, but if allied can't properly validate, they should cease collections.then they would sell the debt to someone else, that's the only way.

Ok, so call me really confused...but is it really a Validation Letter that I should be sending to this company?

I already received a letter from them stating that Amex has turned my acct to them.

Shouldn't I be sending them a letter asking them to clarify an agreement, if any, that Allied & I come up with?
