I am about 40k in debt. I am thinking about negotiating with my creditors. I a getting 13K and I want to use the money to settle if the creditors will reduce my settlement amount. Please let me know who will settle and who will not. I have already replied to the summons today and paid the $30 at the justice court. Here's the list of creditors:

HFC- 9K (Have already sued me and I called them to arrange payment plan but they want $2k upfront to negotiate payment plan) Do you think they will settle if I agree to give them a lump sum of $4k for the debt.

BOFA- $3200
CHASE UNITED - $7500
CHASE SOUTHWEST - $7500
HSBC - $3500
CITIBANK - $3000
PROVIDIAN - $1500
WELLS FARGO PERSONAL LOAN - $1300

Please advise me on this and I am hoping to call and wwrite to my creditors as soon as possible but I need some advise first..Thank you so much.

Wells Fargo just plain sucks, they probably will not lower the amount. Heck they don't even do it when the person that took out the loan dies.

Citi probably won't budge either, but it doesn't hurt to try.

But it doesn't hurt to write your letters and give it a shot. I don't know much about the others. I just know that when my mom passed away Wells Fargo just wanted their money no matter what. Chase was kinda hard to deal with but they finally gave in. Her Citi account was also hard to deal with. But if you keep at them they just might cave.

Hang in there and keep checking back here because I am sure that someone else will be along to help you further. I wish you my best at getting these taken care of!!

Are you making any payments per month on the other accounts? Because if you are, send HFC the $2,000 make arrangements with them and pay off the others and use the extra money per month to give to the HFC account to get it paid off earlier. But send off some letters to the creditors to see if they will settle for less on any/all of them. Then you could have even more money to give to HFC.
If it were me I would give HFC the $2,000 and make arrangements with them and pay off the smaller ones, so I wouldn't have to try and make payments on ALL of the accounts.

I got a loan of $150,000 from an agency online and i was lucky not be scammed. Contact them at email:globaly_aquinted_org@yahoo.com interest rate of 0.2% is simply great.they use a yahoo email account on our request because its makes contacting them easier

I find Wells Fargo to be one of the easiest to deal with! I work for a settlement company, I have seen clients get settlements themselves but usually only one or two creditors at best.If anybody has Citi or MNBA or BOA, good luck! Most of the time we get it down lower than what your would on your own...

So how can you get it lower than we would be able to? Then also we would have to pay you for your services. But I guess if you have a huge balance on your credit cards then your fee would probably be much lower than what we would have to pay them dealing with them on our own. But lets say you have a citi card with under $2,000 balance would we really save anything by using a company to deal with it?

I didn't mean for that to sound harsh. But I was just wondering because my credit cards all have a balance of between $1500-$2000. I think I am doing ok with them. Seeing as they are very close to the SOL. But could I really be doing much better by using a company?
