We've all seen the spam, it's impossible to miss. Some [supposed] gal named Clara gets on our forum and spews dozens of spam messages advertising easy loans at fantastic terms all over the place. For the minority of DebtCC users who haven't seen these messages, they look like this:

I posted this thread on the DebtCC 'Getting a Loan' board earlier this month, using humor to point up the scam behind the spam. Folks, there is real danger in this. Please don't fall for the come-on.

I've been sayin' for some time now that I was gonna apply for one of these easy loans that Miss Clara Jones keeps spamming us about. Well, the other day, I got some free time and.....

I sent this 'agency that is not a scam' the following email inquiry. This really is completely bogus, BTW. I used a disposable email address for this, I haven't got any medical bills, and I sure as hell haven't got any intention to take out a loan from these scammers. I just want to expose what's really going on here.

My [totally bogus] inquiry:
Quote:
I saw a post in an online forum, advertising your services. I am interested in borrowing USD $15.000 to consolidate some medical bills. I would be pleased to recieve more information from you about your programs.

That got me back a reply email this morning, containing an 'application form'. Yeah, right. Like I'm gonna give my info to someone whose only claim to legitimacy is a Yahoo account! Anyway, this is what I got back in response to my inquiry:

It ain't much, but it's a start. Ferinstance, it tells me that the name of this [supposed] outfit really is "Globaly Aquinted Loan Org". [Spelling and other mistakes present in original...] It also told me that the name associated with the account is Thomas Hanks.

Now, I just pop over to Google, and ask them about the Globaly Aquinted Loan Org. Here's what I got back. Some questions from dubious would-be marks, and page after page of spam hits on other message board sites. A red flag, ya think? Nothing meaningful on 'Thomas Hanks' via Google just yet. I'll dig a little deeper into him later, maybe.

I'll be pursuing this thing as time allows. Mainly for my own curiosity, of course. But if I can keep one person from falling for this and losing a chunk of cash, then I'll have accomplished something worthwhile.

Yeah, Ive seen the posts made by the spammer. This is so ridiculous...we are trying to help people to get out of their debts and she, whoever she is, posting such misleading information. :x

You have done a commendable job by unearthing the reality behind it. Thanks, unclewulf its really a great piece of research.

RIGHT< he even sent me so called copys of there awards if anyone wants to see them just let me know and I will send them a copy. one even says that they are with the US and it states that on the paper. but one other thing he said he was from the UK well then why does it say in one profile that I read that he lives in Calf. I kinda  to say anything but if it will help someone not to use them then I will be just  becaue if your like me you cant aford to lose 250.00 that is what it was going to cost me. I just think the Good Lord that someone out there did alittle research and put in on the net. about what to look for and all.... THANK you for posting what you have and maybe it will stop someone from doing this.

Busy, my friend. Entirely too damn busy.

Sorry I haven't been around for a bit. OK, more like 11 months and a bit.

I've been under contract to a telecom company that's bitten off way more than they can comfortably swallow in northern New England. 15-hour days spent fixing other peoples' screw-ups pay pretty well, but there's just no fun in it. So I fired the bums. That's one of the benefits of being a consultant...

Anyway, that was last week. Thought I'd better check in over here post-haste. Looks like there've been some changes.

How y'all been?
