Boomer, off the top of my head I can tell you Check Into Cash, Advance America and Check n Go are all members of CFSA...what this means to you, is that you can go in no later than the day before the loan is due and ask for an extended payment plan. Here is a link to the CFSA web site which will explain more about them.

http://www.cfsa.net/about_cfsa.html

I will check to see if any of your other storefronts are on the list as well. There are several members from KY that have dealt with storefronts and are pretty knowledgable about the whole thing so hang in there.

If they have up in the office that they are members of CFSA, should I inquire. I beleive that I have seen such signs in the offices. I need to request extended repayment and that will allow me make payment to the principle of the amount to finally pay off the debt?

That is good news, I could see being able to pay them off a couple at a time in 4 monthly payments. To be sure I understand, 2 days prior to the due date I go in and ask for extended repayment, will they set up the payment plan for me, and will they treat me badly for asking- most of these offices I have worked with for many months always paying ontime, but having to reloan. I so wish to end this cycle.

Boomer, Yes, that is what you need to do. The companies that are not members, you are going to need to work out payment arrangements with them. You best bet is to go into the store. If the store will not help you , ask for the district manager's contact information and the corporate contact information so you can work your way up.

Is it alright to just put two at a time in the extended repayment and pay them offwhile continueing to pay the others until their turn that I can ask for this option to pay them off- I could see it taking some time, but as long as I keep in good standing I can request this option one lender at a time to clear off the board. Thank You

CFSA Best Practices and Guidelines for Extended Payment Plans
Subject to applicable state laws, each member shall provide an Extended Payment Plan (???????EPP???????) for customers who are unable to repay a loan. The member shall adopt a plan that offers the customer at least the following provisions:

You [the customer] may opt into an EPP to pay an outstanding loan if you are unable to repay your loan when due. Any outstanding fee will be included in the amount subject to EPP.

You must invoke the EPP by close of business on the last business day before the loan due date by returning to the office where you obtained the loan or by using whatever method you used to obtain the loan. To invoke the EPP, you must sign an amendment to your loan agreement reflecting the new payment schedule.

You may pay the transaction balance in four equal payments coinciding with your periodic pay dates.

We will not begin collection activities while you are under an EPP as long as you meet all obligations under the EPP.

There is no charge for you to enter into an EPP. However, if you default on an EPP, we may charge you an EPP fee and accelerate payment on the balance remaining, as authorized by applicable law.

There are two stores in KY, one is Quik Cash and the other is Quick Cash of KY. Quik Cash is a member but not Quick Cash of KY.

This is the process for EPP that I have experienced.

You go in the day before you check is due and tell them you need to set up an EPP. You will not pay anything on this date. They will set it up in four payments, one every two weeks and then you are done.

The ones that do not belong have in-store payment plans, you just have to ask. Some of them will have to send your check to the bank one time and then set up a plan. Money Now has been very cooperative.

roxy, you're welcome! And the reason you "missed it" is because they use their corporate name of QC Holdings. I only know because they were one I did the EPP with.

motomom! How's it going? The reason I mentioned Quik Cash as a member is because of this:

Quote:

Quik Cash $350.00 I have paid it for the last 8 months every 2 weeks $411.00

Boomer spelled it like "our favorite" Quik Cash.....

cannr - I have had better times. Almost through will all the storefronts. Langhorne dropped me from their program after a miscommunication. "Law firms" for 2 of my PDLs are calling but other than that not too bad. How are you? James sent me a flyer asking me to come back and get a 1/2 price loan. That made my day. Just to get under his skin I called and ask if he would honor it. What a nice person.

Internet loans.
1. Patrick Corbett Law for paydayonline.com
2. Kristin Swanson Mace for paydayloanyes.com

I have seen a lot on the internet about Patrick Corbett being an actual lawyer who rents out his firms name to shady collection agencies.

I cannot find much on Kristin Swanson Mace (hope I have it all spelled right) but the person, who called here today was very threatening. She even threatened me for not allowing her to fax debt validation. I told her I was going to record our conversation because I would have trouble remembering everything that was said and she really got out there saying that it is against federal law to record a message without telling the other person (which I just did) and I would be put in jail. I am trying to print out all the KY DFI information and will be submitting complaints against these two here in the near future.

Oh, motomom! You've got to be kidding me! I have looked up that Patrick Corbett jerk and read all about his shady a$$. I haven't heard of the other person's name. However, both are calling regarding ILLEGAL DEBTS. Lord, you don't know how much this steams me up! File, file, file those complaints. I mean, it bites that we have to fill out all the forms for our state AG and mail them in. It's so much quicker to do stuff on line. But, motomom, you need to file against these guys BIG TIME. With everyone. BBB, FTC, and state AG. At least the AG will get on their a$$. It might take them a bit to start on it, but once they start, they keep it rolling. Loved them! But, keep in your mind at all times, these guys are illegal. And their threats are just that. Threats. I know it's aggrevating the hell out of you and probably scaring everyone else, but they can't do crap to you, motomom. Nothing. Illegal jerks. Now I'm ready to go after them myself!

I have gotten to the point that they anger me and no longer intimidate me. I almost enjoy going a couple of rounds with them now that I know what they are about. CREEPS.

Advance America doesn't do EPP anymore? What kind of crap is that? I myself am currently on a payment plan with Advance America; I envoked it as recently as last month.

I think the particular store you are dealing with is trying to put you on. I would call the district manager immediately. As long as they are members of the CFSA, too bad, you are ENTITLED to an EPP once a year with them. It is your RIGHT. I would demand to see documents of them revoking their membership to the CFSA and it's fair lending guidelines.

Advance America is working with me, but I dunno, as of late, it seems like in the news and in the recent experiences of others, they are showing themselves to be extremely crooked and think themselves above the law. This company is *really* starting to tick me off!

Huh??? I do know that the CFSA does vary a bit from state to state; however, I haven't heard of Advance America "not doing the EPP any longer" from anyone until now. Like Amaranth was saying, call the corporate office - not the storefront. Ask them if they are indeed members of the CFSA. If they say yes, tell them what your storefront people told you. Please call them and let us know what's going on!

After talking with all of the store fronts only two Cash Tyme and Quik Cash will offer me a epp, I was told by all of the others that KY will not allow them to participate in the extended repayment, I have paid all of these payday loans every two weeks and made the request for the epp days prior to the due date. They come due again next week and I simply can't continue this cycle, I have spoken to all of them and some are willing to deposit and then make arrangements on a every other week basis, I think that is the only way out of this trap. Any ideas?

That doesn't make any sense if all these storefronts are located in KY. Why would the KY laws only allow only 2 storefronts to work out EPP with you and not the others? I think they are still just trying to take advantage of people and assume that you don't know your rights, so they can say anything they want >_<

Have you talked to the district managers of these particular storefronts yet?

And if they are CFSA members and claiming they aren't obligated to offer you an EPP, I would file a complaint with the CFSA, as well. On their website you can find information on how to do that.

I spoke to Advance America's home office, they said it is up to the Manager, the manager told me all she was allowed to do was let me pay down on a month to month, The people from Check n Go said they had to deposit and then I can come in to pay for the original amount in smaller amounts to pay off each pay day. I'm working on the others-Quik Cash is on the epp and Cash Tyme also.
