Is HFC Household Finance which is now HSBC. If it is they are extremely uncooperative. They ignoed my letter and had a law firm take me to small claims court where I was railroaded into paying 600.00 in costs!
HFC Settlement
Hello, I checked out my HFC/HSBC stats and learned that our office typically settles HFC accounts for 35%-50% of the balance. They can be difficult, and if I were you I would count on settling for approximately 45% of the balance. If your account was placed with an attorney through the National Attorney Network, this shouldn't be a problem. Good luck

Typically local finance companies like HFC , Beneficial , Citifinancial and American General can be difficult to settle with and usually don`t settle as low as credit cards ,but they will settle.
Settlement with HFC
I an 131 days delinquent and I owe $11888 (original balance $10000) I would like to settle this account. What are my chances at this point? How long will it take to sue me in the state of GA? Thank you.

Its hard to say. I would save as mach as you can each month so it it goes to litigation before you have enough to settle you can try and work something out even if its a structured settlement. Is the account still with HFC or has it been charged off yet and sold to a 3rd party?

I have a $23k debt w/ HFC. Both my wife and I lost our jobs at the same time. I've settled all my smaller debts with settlement payments. However, HFC is asking for $13k of the $23k to settle. I would love to settle but I don't have that kind of money. I even asked to make payments, but the 3rd party that now has the account said they are not a payment center. I offered $5k but they refused. I still get calls a couple times a week and don't know what to do. It's been over 2yrs now since the first missed payment. I assume they won't just go away, but I told them it could be years before I have a 13k lump sum if they don't let me make payments.....What can I do?
Honestly, I would take that $5000 and put it a savings account.
Honestly, I would take that $5000 and put it a savings account. Start paying as much as you can, monthly, to that same savings account. Keep offering the $5K lump sum and keep saving. By the time they come back with a counter offer closer to your original offer, you'll have the money to pay them.
