We are thinking of going with a debt reduction company-I've read a lot of messages on message boards concerning this. I am horrified of the fact of the credit card companies suing us. If that did happen, what is the procedure on this? Thanks

Welcome to the Community :D Did you sign up for the free counseling offered here?

Have the credit card companies taken any action yet?

When was the last payment made and with whom?

Are they with the original creditors, or with collection agencies?

Have they contacted you yet?

If we have some additional info- we can put you in the right direction..Good Luck..Karen

In most cases its not the credit card companies themselves doing the suing. The law suit(if any) is usually presented by a collection agency that the credit card company hires to deal with collecting your debt. Normally as long as you can pay them some sort of monthly payment they won't sue you though.

I would be very cautious about which company you decide to use if you are going to use a debt cons. company. Check them out on the BBB and other areas to make sure they will do what you're paying them to do. There are a lot of scammers out there who claim they can fix your credit but can't come through with their word.
