Under MA law, you need to be licensed to collect debt.
What I was told is that Attorney's DO NOT need to be licensed. So I tired to figure out whats going on with
all the lawsuits. CHECK CAREFULLY!!!!!! I searched for
about 2 hours and I finally came up with

Maier Frank J & Associates Law Office
500 Main St Worcester,MA 01608
(508)755-5955

ALSO!!!!!
Statewide Collection Services SAME PHONE NUMBER!!!!
They do not have a license to collect debt.

I asked him over the phone for a 1800 number because
it is long distance for me to call, they told me they didn't have one.

BUT WAIT!!!!! go to Frank Maier's website and all he
has listed is a 1800 number and NOT the 755-5955 #.

the first letter I got was a PRINTED signature of
Frank Maier,,,,,,The second letter was signed by
Anthony lane, who in fact IS NOT an attorney. I am
certain he is a debt collector and he in fact owns
statewide collection services doing business out of Frank Maier's office.....

Pretty good huh? I almost feel like begging him to
bring the lawsuit on to small claims for way over what
he is asking for,,,,then I can file a counterclaim.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was looking over the papers after calling the attorney
today who said he is going to file suit against me for
an unpaid Bally's bill of $888.56..

The first letter sent to me has the law firm on it and
the envelope is from a law firm. I looked up the name
in the signature Anthony Lane on the mass BBO to see
if he is a lawyer and he is not.

The second letter, same thing his signature both are
printed. The third letter is a printed signature of
the lawyer.

from February to March the bill went up $6.70 from March to April it didn't change. I also found it odd
that they tell me to contact ALEX ABDOW, yes it is all
capitalized. He is a paralegal and not a lawyer. They
also asked the client to authorize them to report it
to the Credit Data of New England where it will be put
on my credit report for 7 years and credit grantor's will review this information before issuing credit to me.

The other one I am wondering about is they tell me to call and discuss or make a payment NOW!

Anthony Lane also has dcl DEM under his name on one paper and LEGAL on the other. anyone know what that means?

Ok, I just got off the phone with FTC consumer response center. It is permissible for the original creditor and a collection agency to report on the account as long as information reported is accurate. However a third entity cannot report, it is limited to the original creditor and one collection agency. If the attorney were to report this as well the attorney's trade line would have to be deleted.

UPDATE!!! I called the Massachusetts BBO today and they are going to get back to me in the next 72 hours. I will then file a complaint in writing with any information I have.

I got them on false advertising, plus the three letters from the law firm who where signed by a debt collector. Plus the letters threaten me telling me to pay NOW or they will sue me.
