because of a recent medical emergency ( my husbands triple by-pass surgery; we have no insurance or savings )we are behind on our mortgage (3 mos) and car payment (2 mos). I was told they would not accept partial payments because it would mess up the book keeping. Can I stll send a partial payment (equals full payment when paid every two weeks.)

Hi Margaret

Welcome to the forums. I am so sorry to hear that your husband had to go through such a big operation and as a result you are managing everything. Have strength and trust in god. Everything will be fine.

Regarding the credit with your lenders, every company has its specific guidelines under which they are bound to operate. It is not independently handled by one single person who is dealing with you. Though it might be difficult to accept the payment plan as per your proposal but it is not impossible.

You need to talk with the company's supervisor or anyone senior than him and offer your proposal. I feel that there is every possibility of accepting your payment plan if they get this impression that you will be regularly paying the debt and finish it off in the coming months.

You need to convince them that you will not default in any of the payments and if required, put that it in writing also. Also, get everything written from them too. Your credit report should be showing these accounts as paid once you have completed your payments.

If you feel the need of a skilled consultant doing the negotiation for you, you might take this site's help.

Regards
