I would request either a cashiers check or money order and just to be safe do not cash it with your new bank, take it to a party store, meijer, etc. and just pay the check cashing fee.

They're refunding everything I paid above and beyond the principle amount. Turns out some of the illegal companies actually are afraid of people filing complaints! I was shocked how quickly they rolled over.

So Nick, which PDL company do you work for?
I don't feel the least bit guilty about getting the money back. It doesn't even begin to cover the cost of the NSF fee's that racked up thanks to the PDL's, not to mention the endless phone calls to work and at home, the hassle of having to switch banks, and lets not forget the pleasure of not being able to afford food or rent because the PDL companies drained your checking account before you even had a chance to see a paycheck.
They made the choice to avoid obtaining a license and operating within the law. At least I'll have the satisfaction of knowing they didn't make any money off of me.

i don't work for any of them. wiguy come on you know you borrowed the loan. didn't read the contract and then called them and said your not paying them. i just want to know what company this was with so i can use them. i want FREE money too.....

Nick, I won't say the name of the company because of an agreement I had to sign in order to get the refund.
Now seriously, which PDL company or collection agency do you work for? No normal person would have your point of view.

Mr. Jenkins(if that is your real name), I understand that you may work for a payday loan company and customers getting refunds for being overcharged may cut in to your profits. If that is the case let me be the first to say "so what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " I have been dealing with a pay day lender that states they are based out of CO but they are not authorzied to do payday lending in their state. This person has tried to call my employer and garnish my wages but my human resource rep quickly told him that unless I had a child by him, owe State and Federal taxes or student loans, then he could not garnish my wages. He had the gaul to want my employer to write me up because I followed the advice of an attorney regarding sending payment to a company that have so many address. Also this company uses the UPS store to get their mail, so if you send any certifed mail they will not sign for it. Sir, until you understand what payday customer have to go through, not to mention that they are illegal in some states then please go away and get a clue and find another job. Peace! :P

Members, please do us a favor. Do not respond to "nick". We are here to help people. As suebee stated, posting back to "nick" just gives him a thrill. We need to stay focused on the member/guest that needs help. Overlook "nick" and help the member/guest. I know it's a bother, but we can do this.

WIguy, I received refunds also on my overpayments to illegal pdls. However, in my situation, at the time of the refunds, my bank account was on block status, so credits could still come in - no debits going out. So, the pdls just deposited the refunds into my account, I went to the bank, withdrew the money. If your bank account is totally closed, you can certainly request that they send you a cashiers check to your address. I know other members have gotten cashiers checks. It might take a little longer for you to receive the refund; however, you will get it. And, I too, had to sign documents for my refunds. So, I completely understand.

We've heard your opinion...if you're sick of it, just leave. You're not going to change anyone here.

Just do not get your dander up VBM! I am afraid Mr. Nick will have a hard time getting any of us on here to agree that these PDL's are justified in their fees or tactics. Maybe we should be glad that there is ONE individual out there who has not been trapped or stung? I find it awesome that anyone can actually do the pay off every week or every other week...maybe there is hope that the economy is better for some than the rest of us? Tonque in Cheek here.

how is it trapped? maybe they should have went to another company or a friend to borrow money.. instead of taking the money.. and now coming here to find some type of way to get out of it.. how many people on here pay a mortgage? i borrowed 287k and i will pay back over 450k.. is that fair? no way... don't take the loans if you don't want to pay them back.. you guys will see the light someday when someone tries and screw you
Can we not find a way to block Nick? He is not a registered use
Can we not find a way to block Nick? He is not a registered user and it is clear his intent is only to harass not help. He obviously has a lot of personal self esteem issues that he has to try and resolve by coming on to the sight and making other people feel bad. Nick... I hope you can find a better way to feel good about yourself soon!

Yes, I guess he is just rrying to make us feel like low life bottom feeders? Hmmm....? I do not recall anyone saying that they do not mean to pay what is owed...just not over one hundred fold?
Ideally. if one could afford to pay off every payday, it would not create a trap...but who can afford to live with no money at all or very little for a week or two? Not many I know and that is what it would take to do this for some. Some have no friends or family to borrow from to get out of a fix and with what goes on in life, we do not all have sterling credit to borrow elsehwhere.
But I am sure he knows this.
My question to Mr. Jenkins is, if you borrowed 287K from a payda
My question to Mr. Jenkins is, if you borrowed 287K from a payday lender and paid back at least 500K in fees and interest for what reason? Now this is what you call not normal behavior. Mr. Jenkins, I hope that for your sake you do not lose your job or get ill and can not work for a while. If those two things happen, I am 1,000% sure when you tell the payday lender you can not pay them, then what are you going to do? Call on the community to help you out of the mess you got yourself into. Have a good night and good dreams for now.
