Some breathing room for consumers hopefully will be on it's way for debtors sometime in the not so distant future. I implore the community to go to website and report of your own experiences with predatory debt and bill collectors. The more folks participate, the more likely that the laws to protect consumers will possibly be strengthened, better enforced and maybe even overhauled in our best interests. Once the feds get involved...and the laws to protect consumers against the type of gangster, loan shark, lending and collecting...that has been going on for the last several years gets some teeth to them, than debtors will hopefully once again be able to pay only what they can afford or if the debt is an old debt where the SOL has expired, than the consumer will not have to be concerned about the debt mysteriously reappearing 5, 10 or 15 yrs. later. These people are as much a threat to national security as any outside terrorist. When over half the nation is in debt, consumers deal with anxiety, depression, physical illness, chemical dependency and even thoughts of suicide. When so many Americans are placed under such pressure cooker conditions it effects productivity on the job, and family stability at home. Again, no one is advocating not paying ones debts if they are owed...but the illegal and evil tactics used to collect money from consumers....These debt collectors could very well put masks over their faces and follow someone down a darkened alley and say, "stick em up". They are no different from the thug on the street that robs people at gunpoint. The only difference is that debt collectors use the phone and the mail instead of a gun as a means to communicate their own brand of violence. Let's raise our voices and let the folk on capital hill know, that "We are as mad as hell, and we are not going to take it anymore!"
