How long after I pay or dispute/removal of debts does it normally take for a credit score to go up?

Your scores will update immediately after the creditor/CA updates it. I check/update my TrueCredit reports daily (since they allow you to update it every 24 hrs.) and since I'm in the process of cleaning up my CR, I received a response letter from a CA that they would delete the account on May 8. When I checked my report on May 9, it was gone, and my score had gone up 10 points.

It does depend on the age of the account, as the Guest above mentioned though. Let's say you have a bogus account on your CR from 8 years ago, but your other credit is only 3 years old... your history will go from 8 years old to only 3, and that would cause your score to drop. If it is a big account that is deleted, you may gain 10 for the drop, but lose 5 for the history, resulting in a net gain of only 5. OR, you may lose more than 10 for the history, resulting in a net loss.

I pay $14.95 a month for all 3 reporting agencies and scores, updated as often as 24 hours. There is a place when you log-in to your account to view your report where you can update it.

The website it truecredit.com. It's a pretty common/legit site to use, if you want to monitor your report and score more closely than once a year.

I think there is a $9.95 plan that just shows you your TransUnion report and score. And of course, there is some 30-day free trial thing first, so you could, at least have it for a month and cancel and not get charged.

The trick is remembering to cancel.

I'm just enrolled until I can get my score back on track. Once I've got it back up, I am going to cancel this membership and only view my report once a year through annualcreditreport.com.

How long have you been using the site, and is it easy to use?

I had gotten one trial program through www.creditchecktotal.com and I found it really hard to use, many of the bank/creditors were shown on different areas for the same debt and it was confusing. It was supposed to be in a graph format with 3 columns (Experian. Equifax and Transunion) with each debt on one line, but for example Wells Fargo was shown 3 times as "Wells Home", "Wells Fargo Home Mortgage" and "WLSFGR HMMTG" That's why I'm asking if the one you use is easier?

yes, it's easy. At least I think so.

It will show you all three in column-like format. Mine doesn't show multiple accounts, except for a few original creditors who've sold the debt to a collection agency. Those aren't duplicates, as long as the OC shows a $0 balance.

When you view the report, there will be a link for you to update it every 24 hours. Like I said, I had a CA delete something on May 8, and it was gone the next day off my CR. Agencies or Creditors tell you 30-45 days to allow for their own processing time. If they are good about reporting though, it will happen more quickly. If I were you, I'd be patient and wait the 45 days at least, before disputing again. No need to waste your time sending dispute after dispute if they will eventually delete it.

I use this website every single day. I absolutely love it. It's worth 14.95 a month until you get everything disputed and start seeing your score go up... slowly.

Just so you're not confused by my last post (my radio was cranked). This site is really nice since you can update your credit report/scores every 24 hours. Now if my score would ever get back up to 1200 like I'm sure it was years ago.

once a debt is paid off does it get removed from your credit history 7 yrs from the date it first showed on your report, or 7yrs from the date the final payment was received?

[ No soliciting, thank you ] is a good one. Score went from 514 to 620, in one yr. Key notes to remember only use 30 percent of available credit and never go over 50% for best results. Pay early and pay extra if u can. These r the tips they gave me and I'm getting the results I wanted. Resist temptation to max out cards. Just get new ones and keep all balances under 30%. Good luck

I have never checked ours as regularly as these readers. I know that after we settled 9 cards, a year later our scores were up by 100 points. At two years out, they had recovered to pre-settlement levels.

Just getting our debt to income ratio back square was huge. We also had kept some smaller gas cards that we continued to pay on. Those timely payments also helped. We still have dings from not paying those cards, but our scores have fully recovered.

If you want to go for pay for delete, then you will have to sign such an agreement with the creditor before paying him off. If you don't have such an agreement with your creditor, then the creditor will update the status as settled debts.

I didn't pay for delete and they all reported correctly. They showed that they had been settled for less than the full amount.

I check them every spring, just to see what they are doing. At the two to two and a half year mark, they were back up to pre-settlement levels. We now have credit scores back in the high 700's.

Getting the debt to income ratio squared back around does wonders for your report. So does paying other bills on time.
