I am in the process of divorce and selling the home. I want to take the money from home sale to pay off large CC debt 23K, by offering 40-50% Do you have to stop making payments to have them listen? I would like to do this myself and not through agency. Any suggestions would be helpful.

If you stop paying it may make it easier to negotiate but it is real bad for you credit. You just need to weight it all out.
