Back in May of last year, I had an issue with Payday Yes and I received an email from them stating that my loan was paid in full. I didn't think anything more about it. I look at my credit report and see a collection from a collection agency. SO I call the number and they tell me that they are collecting for Payday Yes. I explain to them that I have proof that the loan is paid in full and I faxed it to them. How do I make sure that this is removed from my credit report? Are they even allowed to do that??

Oh sheesh, I don't really know if they're allowed to do that or not. Have you contacted the credit reporting agencies and asked them to remove it? I think you have to write a formal letter of dispute and provide proof that the debt is paid in full. I'm sure someone else who knows more about this will answer you as soon as possible. I'm really not too sure about this.

buble, this happened to me. I faxed over the information showing my PIF letter from the pdl to the collection agency that reported me. I then emailed the hell out of the collection agency to have them have my account DELETED off my credit reports. Completely removed. In the meantime, I got on line with all 3 credit bureaus and disputed it while I was duking it out with the collection agency. The credit bureaus investigated, and deleted the entry on all 3 reports. I got documentation from the collection agency saying they were having it deleted from my reports (it already had been; however, I wanted something from them in writing). Also, I filed complaints against the collection agency for reporting to the credit bureaus. The BBB and my state AG got responses from them apologizing and stating that the entry was deleted. I checked my reports and it was indeed completely gone. So, do this. Get on the collection agency, stay on them, get something in writing from them stating they will DELETE it from your reports. Dispute it with all 3 bureaus. File complaints against the collection agency with the BBB and your state AG. Mine was taken care of fairly quickly. Just don't let it go. Stay on them.
