dire need of help on a loan
Date: Wed, 04/23/2008 - 18:09
Heres my situation, i am a sophomore at San Francisco State University, and currently borrowing around 2500 every year through federal loans. While the amount with the income of my mom only covers tuition, and books, i opened several credit cards a total of 3 and maxed out each one totaling around 4000. With no job right now and 2-3 months past due dates of these credit cards, i am in dire need of financial help of a loan. With no job right now and probably a bad credit history already, what kinds of student loans/ private loans can i get to pay off all my debts? With the approval of my mom, shes willing to co-sign any loan, but she has filed bankruptcy many years ago... but now has good credit history. Any one have any options on what i can do? thank you

Hello Steve and welcome to the forum! I understand your dilemma, but is there some other way you could pay these credit cards off without resorting to getting another loan to do so? Something you might consider is contacting these companies to let them know you're unemployed and that is the reason you have fallen behind. They may be willing to work something out with you to bring them back up to date. Most importantly, you really should stay pro-active with your creditors, please don't fall into the trap most people tend to do (including me in the past) and ignore them. Perhaps someone else may have some advice to offer you, so please hang tight. :)
