Wow- that is certainly some good news. I am planning on putting it in an untouchable place ( don't want the last of my PDL lenders still deducting from my account to even touch it ) and plan on putting the money I make from the second job into a checking account seperate from the one all my bills come out of, and will hopefully be able to pay off my dastardly 78% interest loan with quickclick loans by the end of next month.

So I'll be very happy if I get it earlier than I thought. The sooner I can pay off one of those high-interest bullies, the better ^_^

Did anyone find out if you owe taxes for 2007 and are on an installment plan will you receive your rebate. The reason I am asking is that I have heard 2 different things: 1. No it will go towards what you owe. 2. Yes you will receive it. I did my taxes online(turbo tax) and at the end of my efile it stated how I wanted my rebate check sent(papercheck through the mail or direct deposit.) It gave me the amount I would get back.

I saw this article, too, Roadwarrior - thanks for posting it! I wasn't at home and couldn't open multiple windows to post the link without going back and forth between sites...what a pain! :-)

Mine was due to be direct deposited on Friday, so I'm hoping mine will be one of the Monday-Wednesday ones too!

Good......maybe I'll get my check a few days earlier than I thought. (Haven't been on the forum, in a few days. Wanna say 'hello' to all of you.)

Here's the new schedule:

DIRECT DEPOSIT

Last two SSN digits: Payments will be transmitted no later than:
00 through 20 May 2
21 through 75 May 9
76 through 99 May 16

Paper checks will also go out based on Social Security number. For Social Security numbers ending in 00 through 09, the paper checks will be mailed starting May 9 and will continue through May 16. A similar process will be repeated in the following weeks.

PAPER CHECK

Last two SSN digits: Payments will be mailed no later than:
00 through 09 May 16
10 through 18 May 23
19 through 25 May 30
26 through 38 June 6
39 through 51 June 13
52 through 63 June 20
64 through 75 June 27
76 through 87 July 4
88 through 99 July 11

People who file a return after April 15 will receive their economic stimulus payment, but probably about two weeks later than the schedule shows. A return must be filed by October 15 in order to receive a stimulus payment this year. See the online calculator for an estimate of the amount you will receive.

Per the website that roadwarrier posted, apparently they are starting this week, so I think the schedule I posted is correct. Here is a portion of what the site said that roadwarrier posted:

Quote:

More than 800,000 electronic payments will be sent to tax filers per day on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, with an additional 5 million sent on Friday, May 2.

I've spoken with two different people from the IRS. One said that you won't get one if you owe and another said that as long as you aren't behind on your payments you will get it. I'm not sure who to believe. If we get anything it will be by the 9th of this month. I'll let you know.

I talked to a 7-11 owner this morn..he said he has had probs with IRS and his accountant absolutely assured him his $1800 would be confiscated...said he always has had probs with IRS...I asked "Have they ever levied your accounts?" He said NO..I stated then you havent really had probs with IRS YET...
he says he got two checks returned that he then cashed that were stated as "overpayment" from irs then later got statement for fines for not paying on time..
his stimulus check will now get held according to his accountant.. I think if you owe any type of money to gov it will be witheld in exactly same manner as income tax refund is witheld.. :) :) I hope I am wrong :D

Here is the answer taken from the ORS site. Not what I wanted to read read but it is what it is:

Q. I'm eligible for a payment but I still owe federal income tax from a prior year. Will my payment be reduced?

A. Yes. For this purpose, the stimulus payment is treated like any other tax refund. This means that part or all of your payment can be used to pay past-due federal or state income taxes or non-tax federal debt such as student loans and child support.
