Hey everyone....posted a little tonight, have read a little, but another crisis here. I believe I have told you all the my mom had emphazima, which we know there is not cure. She makes a lot of trips back and forth to the doctors, but so far, knock wood, she has not had to pull around an oxygen tank. Almost 2 weeks ago she went in for some tests and found some dark spots on her lungs. They decided to do a biopsy on her to see what the spots were. Well in the process, they somehow punctured one of her lungs. Her lung did not collapse right away. In fact she made it all the way home (an hour away from the hospital). She went to bed to take a nap and woke up unable to breath. She ended up going to the hospital to discover her lung had indeed collapsed and they inserted a chest tube into her. I did not know about any of this until last Wednesday night. She got to go home on Thursday and had to go back to the doctors office on Friday to have her tube taken out. Within an hour of the tube coming out her lung collapsed again. I talked to her last night and she said they told her they believe she has a leak in her lung somewhere because her lung is not inflating. they are considering doing surgery to try to repair her lung. Now she also told me that it could take up to 6 months for them to get the results back on the biopsy, which I think is BS, but.... She also said they really didn't think the spots were anything, so my question is, why the hell did they do the biopsy in the first place if they thought it was nothing. She is worse off than she was before!!! I am so mad and upset that it isn't funny. I am really stressed over this and it sure has affected my first week of Weight Watchers, but that really is the least of my concerns. My mom is my concern and my poor dad is so lost right now. Please pray for my mom and my dad. She is having a hard time breathing right now and it looks like she has an infection in her lungs. Please keep them in your prays.

On an up note, Kyle is doing great in MS. He is making friends and is doing well in school. I will try to post about him later on.

Thanks
Karen

Thanks all. Really appreciate it. Found out she has been throwing up, but it is, and am not trying to sound gross, but it has been bile, not regular throw up. The doctors are pretty sure it is an infectiong and are giving her medicine through her IV. Right now, they are waiting on surgery to see if things get better as the week progresses. We will see, I guess. My dad is so tired and stressed and just so lost. I thought the hospital was only about an hour away from their house, but my dad told me that it is closer to 2 hours! He is on the road at almost 4 hours a day driving back and forth to see her. He won't stay in a hotel there because he says there are things he can do at the house. It keeps him busy and keeps his mind off of things.

Ugh...I know I am so tired, not sleeping well and totally stressed. Tonight I fudged on my Weight Watchers program. I had an ice cream bar, kind with choc on outside and van. ice cream on the inside. I know, shame on me, but I am just so, I don't know, that for some reason, just needed something.

Anyway, that is the update for right now. Thanks again for the prayers!!

Luv you guys,
Karen

Karen, I know how you feel!! Mom has that and congestive heart failure and is on oxygen--it's really tough. I hope your mom is better.

Sometimes there are dark spots and they are nothing. I have had them and several of my family members. They can range to shadows from previous pneumonia, infection, congestion, etc., so hopefully your moms is nothing.

Traveling back and forth to hospitals is so tiring. It got to where I wouldn't even remember driving to the hospital!

If you need to talk, I am here, and you and your family, including your son are in my prayers!! Hang in there-try to get some rest..Karen
