Has anyone ever heard of Newport Financial Services? If so, negative or positive reactions??

Sanders, Until someone comes along with personal experience and can answer your question, you can type Newport Financial Services in the search box at the top right side of the page. This company also does business as United Financial Services, so you may want to research that name as well. Two things though, before you work with any company, I would check them out with the BBB, I would also be sure they are licensed to do business in your state and at the same time you can find out if there are any complaints against that company that were filed with the state. You can also ask them for a list of companies that are licensed in your state.

Did anyone end up signing up with them and if so what was the results? Have you been happy with them? I just spoke to someone from there and like all these debt settlement companies they talk a pretty good line, but after reading so much negative stuff in this forum, I am more confused than ever about who is good and who is not. Seems like there are lots of crooked companies out there and its very hard to sort the good ones from the bad.

RUN AWAY. Their web site ezdebthelp.org says they are members of the BBB.I looked them up on the BBB and it says " This organization is not a BBB Accredited business. The BBB has requested basic information from this company. The BBB has not received a response. Without this information, the BBB may not have current information concerning such things as the company's management or its nature of business." Seems very shady when you advertise being a member with the BBB and are not.

Their BBB actually looks good compared to other companies out there. I, too, have been looking into debt settlement and had seen their site before. 4 complaints in 5 yrs compared to some companies that have 30+ a year.

Just make sure they go over the pros and cons. Nothing is too good to be true.

They use a bbb site in az or nor ca to get away from bad comments. Beware. They charge 15% of your total debt and you end up getting sued by creditors. They pay huge amounts of money to get there site up in the google search engine. Testamonials are from fake people. This company will rip you off.

They took my money...

they screwed me out of $4000 they cleared 1 out of 7 debts which i ended up having to pay taxes on. because the company wrote off the rest of the balance. so the irs calls it cancellation of debt. after the worst experience i ended up filing chapter 7 bankruptcy. they get paid first before they deal with your debtors, once they get paid they do nothing. they make it look good in the beginning with all the paperwork and estimates but after its a nightmare. i would like to sue this company.

jennifer, your tax consultant should have told you about a little form called 982 that usually makes most people going through settlement expempt from the taxes owed on forgiven debt. but then again she or she may have not known that you were going through a settlement process. I too ended up paying the irs because i wasnt aware of this form.

as for this settlement company im sorry that things went so badly for you there are alot of crappy companies out there right now people have to be very careful as to who they choose to help them with thier finances

Stay away from Newport Financial Services! I talked with my consultat at Newport Financial Services over 6 months before I decided to sign up with them. She gained my trust and made me feel comfortable. I was dumb, dumb, dumb to not do more research on the company! They are a consultant company whom, after you sign the contract, directs you to the J Hass Group, who's an even worse company to deal with! Atfer they got my final payment, Newport fell off the face of the earth, screening my calls, and telling me that little B*** had moved to another department and that no one except her could go into my file because it was unethical! I canceled my service with them after 4 months and they refuse to refund my money! The other consultant there, the little A**hole Manny Reyes promised to do a confernece call with me if I called back and then ignored all my calls when I did. SCAM, RIP OFF, THEY SHOULD BURN IN HELL! Do you research and you will see many others who they have scammed! And to top it off, WITHOUT their help, Amex offered me a 40% settlement! NO ONE NEEDS A DEBT SETTLEMENT COMPANY. They do what you can on your own but charge you a hefty fee. I was just stupid! I have filed with the Attorney General's Office, FTC, and will file with the BBB. Probably will get me nowhere but I vow I will post on as many sites as I can and save people from losing the money that they don't have. BEWARE of LIARS and MANNY REYES!!
