6 months with no result, when I called & emailed to find out what was going on & to ask for some sort of proof as to what was being done, they avoided my phone calls & emails, I am trying to get my money back, but it is taking forever & they keep refusing to return my money.

Most of the time you will not get your first settlement within the first 6 months with most settlement companies unless you had a small balance cc in the program. Usually you are paying the first 2-3 payments in fees and them you have to allow time for the settlement funds to accumulate. How many month program were you doing and how much debt did you enroll with them ? Also how much was their fees ?

Hello everyone, I just started the program two months ago paying about 1 grand a month. I was wondering if this company is just a scam or what? I guess I am unsure of my deisicion now. I read below that it never helped some people so I would like to hear more about it. Any help will be appreciated!

They are a good company . They are members of The Association of Settlement Companies " TASC " and the BBB. Just understand that no matter what settlement company you will not see results over night. You have to be patient and stick with the program. It can take at least 6-8 months usually to see your first settlement depending on how fast of a program you are doing and how large your balances are on your debts.

I have been with them for 8 months and one account just got settled. I was getting worried since 8 months had passed, but at last, the process was finally moving along since money had to build in my trust fund account. I have found them to be professional, knowledgeable, and always prompt in returning my phone calls. I never felt that I'm flushing my money into the land of oblivion where no one is on the other end. They are not a member of the BBB because paying a member's fee doesn't mean anything. What you want to look for is complaints filed with the BBB, not whether they're members In addition, if you visit their website, you'll see that they're certified with the federal government as well as numerous other legitimizing agencies. I was extremely cautious in my search for a debt settlement company since so many of them are scams. I'm so surprised that some of you have had such bad experiences.

What is a BBB Accredited Business?
If a business has been accredited by BBB, it means BBB has determined that the business meets BBB accreditation standards, which include a commitment to make a good faith effort to resolve any consumer complaints. BBB Accredited Businesses pay a fee for accreditation review/monitoring and for support of BBB services to the public.
BBB accreditation does not mean that the business' products or services have been evaluated or endorsed by BBB, or that BBB has made a determination as to the business' product quality or competency in performing services.
Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation.

Anybody can be a BBB member all you have to do is pay the fee and be business for 6 months. The TASC is any settlement company that wants to be a member. You have to pay taxes on your settlement plus a fee for their services. They get you the same deal you can get on your own. And they do not stop any legal action. You will sign a POa and they will send a Cease and Desist letter. Imagine you are a creditor and your client tells you in writing I will pay you when I ever can in the mean time don't call me. How long would it be to you sue?

The Bylaws have been developed in consultation with a number of debt settlement companies, discussions with different states???????? legislators, and major lenders. The aim of the Bylaws, and that of TASC, is to encourage debt settlement companies to provide services of the highest standards to ensure the public and the credit industry????????s confidence. If that company doesn't comply with the Bylaws TASC will revoke that companies membership. If you don`t believe me ask the company Debtxs who lost their membership.
save your money
Don't listen to everything you hear from one law office of the Hass group get a second opinion!!!. After 6 months & $2,000.00 my debt was giving back to me to take care of my self.the office of hass recieved about $1,750.00 for fees that they did nothing to recieve. To make a long story short all they are is power of attorney over your debts. The creditors will work with you trust me just call them and it will save you a lot of money
save your money (from old school)
So this is a scam...the Jason D. Hass group that is? Sounds like from your blog it is. I am asking because I have started this process and am thinking, feeling that it is a scam. I have heard good things and bad things about this debt settlement company JDH Associates - Jason D. Hass Group. I just want an accurate answer. I should just pull the plug on them before they get the satisfaction of taking advantage of another one of us that is just trying to get out of debt within a budget that is reasonable and one can afford and NOT GO DEEPER IN THE HOLE.
Old school thanks for taking the time to blog I believe you have helped me realize that this is a scam and all this company is going to do is put me further into debt...something I and most of us cannot afford to do...PUN intended.
BTW...why is it that mobile0311 is the main blogger that has said positive things about this company. Maybe because he is one of them and thinks he is out smarting us. Well we will see who really has the last laugh when they don't get a dime of my hard earned money.
I guess there was one other positive response from a Suki a guest user who is probably one of them as well.......A SCAMMER.
I edited your user name because it could be construed as offensive to others, in the future, if you do not want your user name edited, please choose one carefully, thank you, Shazzers.

It takes a long time to get the account settled. Please be patient. I am at the end of my 2nd year and I have settled 4 of the 9 accts. You have to build up a balance so you will have the money to pay off the credit company once JH negotiates a settlement. I just got off the phone with a rep from JH. She spend 20 minutes making sure I resolved my issue and was very friendly. I hope to be debt free by the end of 2009
JDH Associates
I just wish they'd stop calling my phone! After I told them I found out how to get my ownself out of debt!
Why would anyone use a settlement company that takes there fees
Why would anyone use a settlement company that takes there fees upfront i have no idea. Use a company that takes there fees out over the length of a program so you put more into your trust account. Then guess what, you will have someone negotiating for you sooner because you have MONEY which is what it takes to settle. I know of a few companies that do and will almost talk you out of it because debt settlement isn't just an, "Okay i will stop paying my creditors and settle" There is a risk envolved. You should be prepared to file BK if everything doesn't work out as planned. Creditors do settle but there is the chance that you might be that one that they wont.

Little help with Hass Group
I have been very dissappointed with the Hass Group. My husband and I have paid in about $10,000 without a payment yet. Calls are not returned. If I do talk to someone, promises are made but not followed through.
Im usure of why some people choose to use companies that take up
Im usure of why some people choose to use companies that take upfront fees. I personally did not use this company and im not sure if they are a scam or not, but I will tell you this. I used a settlement company that does not take upfront fees.
I couldnt have afforded it even if i wanted to.
second of all, everyone needs to know the facts about settlement. read up on it before you join. These are the facts:
It will take several months to settle your accounts i was at almost a year with 0 settlements and had 3 all in the same month. if you do get a settlement within 6 months you should feel lucky.
no company can promise you a certain time frame or dollar amount on settlements. This is why they call it settlement they negotiate or atleast they are suppost to what you will pay to settle the account paid in full.
No company can promise to keep you from lawsuits
No company can promise that the collectors will never call you. Some few random ones will every now and again. It will reduce them, and handled properly they usually stop, but they can still call you.
No company can promise a time frame. If you sign up for 2 years you may not be done in 2 years depending on how you handle the situation you may not have to pay into the account but negotiations may not be done.
Im sure there are more but these are some of the few things off the top of my head. debt settlement is a great way to get out of debt, but it surly is not easy. And once you are sure you got a good company you need to make a commitment to the program or a commitment to yourself if you are doing it on your own. This is a tough road and most people think it is easy and it is not. Be prepared is key. Know the facts and stick with it. Reading these posts tells me that people are not finding out the facts on debt settlement.

I too feel like I have gotten the shaft from JDH. We have been sending them money for a year now (over $7000) and now we have two creditors suing us and taking us to court. JDH wants us to pay them off....well...duh....isn't that why we signed with them? They said we do not have enough money built up....five of the seven thousand is for their fees! When we signed up they were all sweet and syrupy about how they are there to help us and now they are throwing us to the wolves. To top it off, they said we would not have enough in out reserves to start paying off debt until next April! That would be two years without any settlements. In the meantime, I am sure the others will sue us for their money. I mean, what's the use in sending it to JDH? I asked to quit the program and they will send us $2K but the other $5k we cannot have back because they "worked" for it. I am seething right now..................

If this company has ripped you off as well contact the Attorney Generals office for your state along with the State Bar of your state. This guy should be shut down.
JDH
You people must have had selective hearing when you were signing up with them. I do not work for them, I was a client. Yes I paid their fee, yes they told me what to expect and yes it was difficult. I was in the program for 3 years because I had so much debt. But it is gone and I don't want it ever again. If I can't pay cash, I don't need it. You people need to stop complaining and realize you created your own debt and it won't go away on it's own. If you were so financially savvy, you wouldn't have gotten into this to begin with.
I learned that a few years of pain and is worth being debt free. I would have never have been det free. Don't forget who the real bad guys are here. For me it was Capital One.
Nothing feels better than being debt free in 3 short years. Without their help I would be buried in debt for 60 years!
Call them if you are not happy and let them explain the program to you again...because you obviously didn't listen the first time. They work and I am proof alongf with 4 of my friends.

Seriously, I do NOT work for them. I simply want everyone to realize that DEBT SUCKS and JDH did help me. You have to understand the program, stick with it and don't give up. They will do what they say and they will follow through.
Remember why you called them in the first place. 3 years of pain is better than a lifetime of debt. No I have to go to the beach...Debt free
STICK WITH IT - You'll see!!

The J. Hass group took 1800 in fees, and did nothing for me but send 2 power of attorney letters. I was not able to get any money back either. If you research them they are members of the BBB but have many complaints listed as "resolved" All that means is they dropped it due to not enough evidence.
Please be careful!
J.Haas is a rip off company
You do not have to go with a debt settlement program. You can negotiate yourself with the credit card companies. Save yourself money. Give it directly to the credit cards you owe and not to some swindler debt settlement program. this company took over 7,000 dollars of my money and settled one debt for 500.00. Due to lack of communication another settlement was disqualified and reverted to its original amount for lack of payment. Now that I no longer am sending them money monthly they do not even bother to return my phone calls requesting copies of all my transactions with them. They will call you daily to get you to sign up and take your money tho! They do have a rating with the BBB and it is a well deserved F! Check it out.
J. Haas group has a F rating with the BBB
They hustle hard to get you to sign up, when they mess up they resfuse to return calls, ever. Sent them over 7500 dollars over the course of a year. they settled one account for 500 dollars and messed up another settlement due to lack of communication, refuse to return any money or calls or send any reference of transactions. F rating with the BBB. Just negotiate with the credit card companies yourself. That is how I ended up doing it . Wish someone had told me I could do it myself a year ago.
J.Haas group
This company is now being investigated by the attorney generals office. They should not even be collecting money from anyone at this time. The office will be closed down! Go with someone who has at least an A rating with the BBB. J. Haas has an F!
tasc
TASC is a joke....Google their board members and u will see most of them are scammers and have AG and FTC backgrounds....the BBB is a joke as well especially in orange county ca, as the head BBB guys owns a non profit credit counseling agency....so he rates all debt settlement companies an F.....Bottom line is if you are in debt and cant double or triple payments you are F'd already. Either pay the debt the rest of your life.....file Bankruptcy or hopefully find a good company....bottom line is - its your debt and your problem.
dont sign up!
so i have been with then since feb of 2008 and now i am getting sued with my wages garnished bc they ignored my wells fargo credit card. I am suffering bad bc of there mistakes and along with it they only settled 1 of my accounts. they have refuesd/neglected my accounts for many with low balance settlements and when I asked about if the lawyers can help that was a joke., I have gotten out of the program bc for me it was a scam and they only hurt me more then helped me. I am doing this on my own now and fighting with the collecters and thus far i have setlled two of my accounts. Its easy and the book called debt cures really helps understand what to do.

dont sign up with them, we pay 900 a month and still have to make monthly payments to 2 creditors that they so called closed with, i cant stand this company ,now we have to file bankruptcy, we have paid in approx 24,000 dollars to them and they have officially closed one account since 10/07
j hass is a ripoff
j hass does not care about you. j hass wants your money. if you get sued by your creditors, j hass will not shield you from legal action. j hass cannot magically multiply your money and cannot force your creditors to accept a settlement that you yourself could not negotiate. the only people who are successful on j hass' program already had the means to settle their own accounts and simply paid j hass for nothing. j hass preys on the misery, desperation and ignorance of others. stay very very far away from j hass.

I tried to "work it out" with my credit card company, and they wanted to know if I had any RELATIVES that could loan me the money. Then he advised me to get to use another low interest card to pay them off, so basically they did nothing in the way of offering me a realistic settlement. I've paid 3 of 30 - $594 payments to JH, I hope this works for me, I should be debt free in 2012 when the world ends, ha!
JHassGroup
One year, $4,300 in fees, and one law suit later, I'm heading to the Arizona AG and my state AG - and most likely the Arizona Bar.
Stay away from haas!
Haas is being investigated by the FBI for fraud - they have been using their clients' savings fund for their own purposes - apparently having cash flow problems which mean - STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!! There are plenty of other upstanding debt settlement companies in Scottsdale who have longevity and credibility.

I'm sooo confused and unsure what to do about this company...i have signed up to work with them and I have creditors calling me constantly telling me that JDH has not contacted them to say they are working with me yet. I started with them in April of 2007, and I have just reached the final settlement, on my last credit card....they have successfully settled 24K in credit card debt for around 13K, including their fees.
They are sometimes hard to get a hold of, I will grant you that, some days you need to leave a message and wait for a return call, but if you understand the program, read through how it works, and sign the contract, you will find that it works, they do a good job, and although it takes some time, it has saved me probably 20K if you add in what I would have ended up paying in interest, etc.
It is not a scam, and it has worked for me. They are accredited by the BBB. And it took almost a year before the first account was settled, because you have to pay their fee upfront, understandable, and you have to have enough cash in your trust account to be able to negotiate with....that takes time...also your accounts need to go into charge off before they can be negotiated down.
I would also like to add, that while you could do this on your own, at once point Citibank did file a lawsuit against me, and having a law firm, and the trust account helped to settle that out of court....JDH did all the settling for me, I did not have to hire a separate attorney.
I did start before the economy went down the tubes...so things may have changed, but this was a great help for me.
