Laws Pertaining to Payday Loans in Connecticut
In the state of Connecticut, payday loans are illegal. Lenders in this state must possess a license to deposit checks into someone's account and the state sets a minimum fee for cashing a post-dated check. In order to become a payday lender in Connecticut one has to submit an application, provide contact information and pay and application fee of $250. Then the state commissioner conducts an investigation into the character of the applicant to determine whether this person will add value to the community. Another stipulation for becoming a lender in this state is that the applicant has liquid assets of $10,000 for each business location he/she intends to open.
In Connecticut, there are restrictions placed on the amount of finance fees that lenders can charge for payday loans. For example, the finance fee on a fifty-dollar loan can only be 0.5% of the total amount of the loan. The lender is only allowed to charge five cents as the processing and handling fee for fifty-dollar loan and ten cents if the loan is over that amount. The schedule of fees must be posted at each location, but this is a requirement in most other states as well. You will not find any Payday lenders in Connecticut because of the illegality of this type of lending process.

Have you found their processors yet. I actually told them that I had a lawyer on hold for me waiting to file suit and add the processor company to that suit if someone didn't herlp me. THEY DID.

well, I sent them email after email to see if I'll get a response. and to be honest, as nasty as the phone calls were to me by the people, are as nasty as an email I sent. I even told them if they could read they would get back to me. Every time they call I get the person's name and email them telling them they are violating the law here and that they are totally ignoring the letter that I faxed them. There has to be a manager or general person that I can at least talk to. does anyone know if there is?

another bit of good news... I heard from the Banking Commissioner of CT.. they said that if these people try to take me to court.. they won't stand a chance because of their illegality. they also said that I only have to pay back what was borrowed.. so that's good. I really don't owe anything.
