How many of you feel that the admin was wrong?

Some of you have already given us some very useful feedbacks on how to improve the voting system and we are already working on these suggestions. Hope the things will improve this time. But I’m really interested in knowing, how many of the members are dissatisfied with the way the ‘question of the week’ section is managed so far.
Please response to it so that we can move ahead with correcting and erasing the negatives out of it and can make it successful.

Jason

I think the first time it was rough because it was new. I didn't participate in the first week because sometimes new things make me worry :). How it works?
* Our community picks up the question of the week, which is shown under this section.
* (Almost) Everyone answers it. All the answers are kept hidden.
* Once the week ends, all the answers are shown for voting.
* The answer which will receive the maximum number of votes along with the best feedback from the debtcc admin panel will win.
* $50 is paid to the member for the best answer.
* All answers are made public
As long as those rules that were above haven't changed from the first time then I feel it was fair.
I feel it should be a democratic process. One person, one vote.

I honestly don't think it was a matter of wrong or right, my opinion is, there were a few glitches, and obviously they have been recognized and will be addressed. The negative voting was probably the part I didn't like the most. :)

FYI - Those are the new rules, not the old ones. Before it was just votes, not the part about admin having input in the decision. The rules have changed from the first time.
I don't think it was fair, but everyone already knows that. I think the situation could've been handled a lot better. I think at least an explanation should've been posted in the pub that due to some tech problems, Admin chose the winner and disregarded the votes.
I also think that if it's creative and out of the ordinary answers that Admin is looking for, that should be communicated. If they don't want to see tried and true, proven answers to their questions, that should be communicated.
I just feel like the members were told that their opinion doesn't matter, and that they don't know anything. They picked their winner, but were denied.

Anything new is going to have glitches and problems. When I first came to this site, there were alot of glitches and problems-course there were only 27-28 thousand people then too.
To be really honest, I though my answer was the best, thought out, etc. But the only thing that bothered me was, that someone wanted the money, didn't want certain people to win, or was trying to sway the votes, with putting all the thumbs down --which has already been addressed.
I have no idea how the votes went- I went to bed and didn't check them after that.
You are trying to look for solutions to get the problem(s) resolved, that's all you can do..karen
I am not going to do the right or wrong thing, because too many fingers get pointed and nothing is resolved-you did the best you could with what you had to go on at that time.
I,too, think it should be one vote each, and that we track the guest votes so someone doesn't take advantage of that,,nuff said

Here is the updated status,
- One person, one vote- done
- Negative votes- gone. No thumb down option
- Tracking guest votes- done
- Votes received by each response will remain hidden till the end of the poll

How can we make it more democratic?
I agree there were few glitches in the system, but you can't actually come to know about those until it's tested. You've pointed put the problems to us and we're in the process of making it more smart and transparent.
You guys have given us some very good feedbacks and I expect that feedbacks will keep coming in the future as well.
Try it out this time. If it needs further tuning, let us know that.
Thanks you all for the helps in improving the interface.

Jason

At this point, I can't see , or think of anything!..karen

I like the changes made to the process, Jason - I think it will make it more fair and unbiased. The old way allowed too much "leeway" in the process.
Thanks!
