I have a car loan with a buy here/pay here lender. How can I get this positive credit on my credit report?

They told me that they do not report to the credit bureaus, but gave me a printout of my payment history and loan information to do it myself. Now what?

They need to be the one's reporting it to the credit bureaus, this is something that has to be done through a business, not an individual.

If it were that easy then everyone could just print-out their own payment records and report it as being positive.

Other people will be along to advise you further...good luck

The credit agencies will not allow companies that have less than 100 customers to report good standing. So, if they have one customer that does not pay, they may report the negative account to the Beaus. On the flip side, they will need 100 or more customers that pay their bill on time to report the positive account. 100 is Transunion, but the other two require up to 500 positive customers before they accept reports of positive accounts.

I have a friend who bought some furniture from a place, that is a 'buy here, pay here' place. Will this same 'principle' apply for her, too? She actually got this credit to raise her credit score.
