Geneva Roth is a licensed lender. I am dealing with them right now....my state laws allow them to lend here in TN, so that means I pretty much have to do what they say...I'm not sure about the KY laws, but someone will know and we will go from there....

Here is the info they provided me with through the BBB.

They owed me a refund of like $520. I took a 200 loan and I pid them 720 total. After about a month of arguing through the BBB and getting no help from my AG they offered me a settlement of $20. I honestly think they did that because they thought they would have access to my new account...but little do they know I paid the $20 with a visa gift card LOL. Suckers!
However I am not done with them I printed out everything and mailed every piece of info to my AG, The federal trade commisioner, and the Governor of Michigan. I printed out LoanPoints info on lending to MI residents, MI lending laws, and my whold transcript of my BBB complaint. Im hoping this will get them shut down at least to MI residents.

i am waiting on a response from the bbb with them as well..they have until june 3...just about the same here...i have paid $745 on $300...guess i will wait and see. i am sure they will debit my account regardless

You should close your account. Because they have ways around the stop payment. They will do smaller or larger amounts or even change their name. I would close your account completely

i only have two more payments with them...only one more after tomorrow. so i didnt want to go thru the hassle and have them calling work constantly. so i have kept my account open. one pdl honored my request and gave me a refund ...one so far has not and debitted and then i have the one due tomorrow which i am sure will be ignored and my account will be debited.
but at least i know i only have two more weeks of debits and it will all be done forever.

aj, to answer your question, pdls are prohibited in KY, it does not matter whether Geneva is licensed or not...the DFI does not recognize these as legal collectable loans.

I understand why you are keeping your account open however I have read on here that even though you are done paying them by their terms they can still debit your account after. Or even debit as another company. I had one company I applied with give my info to another IPDL and they also credited my account and at that time I was blind and did not know how to handle it so I just sat back and watched both companies take my money. So if I were you I would be very cautious because theses companies are ruthless and I wouldnt want them having all my info.
And regardless of my personal situation I do work for a bank and see it all the time. So my professional advise to you is after everything is settled close your account and open a new one even if its with the same bank just get a new account number. Then you wont have to worry about anything in the future.

well i am in the process of buying a home and my account has to be open for at least six months, which it has been, with so much money in it so i can't close my account and can't have NSFs show up...i see what you are saying. but if they do try to debit after the fact they are paid off...there will be issues. every two weeks i print up the snap shots on line showing my balance and what is owed with the exception of loanpoint because they don't offer that. but for them i have all of my bank statements ready. i have just tried to do things without closing my account...without much success. but i figured i would try.

I just wanted to forwarn you. Because these companies are illegal they dont follow any laws. If they were to debit your account after they were paid off you more than likely will not get it resolved with refund. To me that is a huge risk. The only way to truely stop them is by closing that account. Everyone on here will tell you that. And in all honesty the money they have been taking from you was illegal. You are only morally responsible for paying back the original amount of the loan anything over that is illegal.

well..so far i havent had issues...when i put down extra money to pay toward the principle it has always been correct. and my account is always updated to reflect the amount....i guess i will just call on the last payment to make sure...

Absolutely; your loan is "Paid in Full" and will remain that way. Once
your refund is processed, there is no further obligation to make any
payments on your part.
I apologize for not including that information in the initial response.
I did receive your fax and will have $390.00 deposited into your
account. I expect it to arrive tomorrow.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.

Not only that but close your account!!! It makes me wonder about that refund and how "easy" it was. It may be a trick so they have record of depositing that money to make it look like another loan, specially since thats all they have to do is change the date on his contract. Sorry I just dont trust these slimebuckets

All I can say is Good luck. You are playing in very dangerous waters with this company. Your statement They refunded part of what they owed me, should tip you off. If they were so good to you, why did they not refund ALL they owed you. again, good luck

i understand where everyone is coming from...trust me i do. i just can't close my account. i need to have my account open for six months for the mortgage to get approved and i have to maintain a balance in there above a certain amount. i have had this account for years and if i were to close it and open a new one...i would have to start over for the few hundred dollars i have left outstanding to the PDL companies. after everything is approved with the house and what not..trust me...i will close it out. its not that i trust the PDL companies..i know they are bad...the thousands of dollars in fees i have paid out remind me of that. however, i did take out the PDLs to help me out of a crunch..and they did. i just can't see closing everything and getting hit with NSFs and closing accounts and what not and being in a worse position when I started. am i mad...yes...but i knew what i was getting into. sure i think people can play that...i didnt know i was going to get charged this and that...for the first time. however...after a while you know what you are getting into. so yes...i have tried to fight them with the C & D letters and what not...but i am not going to drag the process on and on...waiting for them to settle and stressing out for months. i just decided to pay them off if they won't work with me. it just wasn't worth it to me to worry if they would call work...or garnish my wages...i was fortunate in the fact i only had 3 and was able to pay off a little principle most of the time. and i thank this site...it opened my eyes to everything and made me much more aware of my finances. and i feel for the people who are in way over their head and doing everything possible to fight...i would too in their situation. i guess i have just had different experiences with the PDL companies.
They are licensed in Utah, so they aren't a totally illegal pdl.

I think odds are this person will be fine. It's usually when they are still trying to collect that they will continue to hit your account. Since this person has a refund already, I doubt they will try to debit the account again.
Also, I understand why he doesn't want to close the account. He is in a situation where it would make his situation worse by doing so. The risk is worth it for him to keep the account open.

Close out your account. They just tried to debit $170 dollars out of an old account I have at my credit union, today. The credit union called me this morning and ask me if I had authorize a debit on an account that was closed.
