Risky pdl question

I've been a compulsive gambler for years. The last phase of gambling is prison, insanity or death.
I'm currently in intensive therapy and GA.
My gambling got so serious (insanity) that I took out several payday loans out under my sisters name. I paid the loans back under my bank account but put them under my sisters name. The loans got too much so I stopped paying on them and I closed my bank account. Of course, my sister found out.
It will take time but I will pay back the pdl companies. My sister wants to pdl companies to take the loans out of her name and put them in my name.
I know that I commited fraud. I will pay the loans back. Do you think the courts will give me any leniency - taking into consideration that the pdl loans are illegal in my state or am I looking at serious jail time?

You could have a fairly good chance of doing some time. The judge may look at the fact that you being in therapy is a step towards taking care of your problem, but I am not an attorney. To my knowledge, giving false information on any sort of contract is illegal and punishable. I would contact an attorney my friend, best of luck.
Risky pdl question
I am definitely no expert; but I would think you would get in trouble only if your sister filed charges. Also, if the pdl's are illegal in your state, and if you have paid back the principle, then I would think that you would not have to pay any more.. You would just have to deal with them calling you. Did you send out letters to these pdl's to cease & desist calling and revoking wage assignment? I would also think you could not get them to change names on the loans. But if you have a good relationship with your sister then I would let her know that you will do everything in your power to them out of your lives.
What are the names of your pdl's and how much did you borrow and how much have you paid back so far? Were they internet or storefront? What state do you reside in?
I wish you luck in getting out of your situation. Stay strong..

Is there anyone in GA or would your therapist be able to refer you to an attorney, a counselor, or someone who could help you with the legal aspects of what happened? Couldn't hurt to ask, I'm sure they've had to deal with others who've done similar things. Good luck, God bless, and please keep us posted.
