I'd like to make a reasonable offer but I need to word it correctly.
Can you give me a sample letter?

Bulldog is right. They have an offer in compromise, a payment plan or, like myself, I was put on CNC ot Currently Not Collectable because my expenses and income were the same. That however causes a lien which can prevent me from buying a house until I star paying them again and is on my credit report. The best thing to do is either talk to them directly or through a tax lawyer. Once you make contact with them collections will stop. You do not need your pay garnished. Go through the local office. Do not waste your time on the phone with them. You will spend your life on hold!
